 ----------------------------
 What is "Horsepower Lab 1D"?
 ----------------------------

 Horsepower Lab 1D is a software package for numerical simulation
 of gasdynamics phenomena in pipelined systems. Horsepower Lab 1D
 has specific emphasis on modeling piston engines gas-exchange based
 on prediction of wave action in engine ducting and can be used
 to help analyze tuned pipe design of piston engines.
   Runs on Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP/2003

 ---------------------------------------------------------------
 Main features of "Horsepower Lab 1D" (see also "CHANGES.TXT"):
 ---------------------------------------------------------------

 - modular approach that results in presentation of the system as
   an assembly made of components and connectors (modules);
 - visual management of the assembly layout;
 - unsteady 0D thermo- and 1D gas-dynamical models;
 - standalone solver program to simulate system's dynamics in time
   with second order of accuracy incorporating 2 higher order
   monotone conservative methods for unsteady 1D gas dynamics;
 - rational treatment of local restrictions and splitters in unsteady flow,
   with possibility to use empirical data;
 - two-zone scavenging model for modeling scavenging process in engines;
 - post-processing with temporal and spatial visualization of solution;
 - automated computations for optimization;

 Release Notes
 -------------

 1. No real installation still required: simply unzip distributive
    (archive file named like "hpl1d.095-20050307.zip") and run
    SETUP.EXE, which will prompt you to enter a directory to uncompress
    all needed files.

 2. No automated update still implemented: simply uncompress the
    newer distributive to the *another* directory and transfer your old
    projects there in \prj subdirectory. Hopefully old projects can be used
    without any modifications (true for minor updates; see CHANGES.TXT).

 3. Newer versions (updates) can be downloaded from:
    http://www.horsepowerlab.com/download.html

 4. Program should run under Windows ME/2000/XP/2003 but still
    NOT TESTED under *all* of these Operating Systems. E-mail notes
    about how [poor] program works under these OSes will be useful...

 End-User License Agreement (EULA)
 ---------------------------------

 License agreement can be found in LICENSE.TXT file distributed
 together with program.

 -------------------------------------------
 Shareware limitations and Order information
 -------------------------------------------

 This program is "Shareware with limited functionality".
 This means for now that the solver component of the package will work,
 but it will produce *wrong* simulation results (running in "demo" mode).
 Graphical User Interface of the program will also display "Register"
 menu item that shows registration dialog. This all is true for
 *unregistered* state of the program.

 Registering is started by ordering the program and sending the *unique*
 'Hardware ID' together with your 'Name For Registration' to the author.
 After registration you receive an e-mail message with private Registration Key.
 This Registration Key is to be carefully transferred (using Copy and Paste)
 to the corresponding empty text field of the Registration dialog.
   When registration is complete, the restarted program no more displays
 "Register" menu item and the solver works in a "registered" mode.

 Be careful when you provide 'Hardware ID' and when pasting your
 Registration Key!

 Registration is "one-time" -- no further "upgrade version" payments required
 (except for upgrading to *major* versions: 2.0, etc..).

 By registering this program you support further development of this product
 so the author(s) will spend more and more (if not all) time for implementing
 new features, bug fixing, help system and user support, speed and interface
 improvements and other related activities...

 For registration/ordering options please go to "Register" page
 on supporting Web site.
