3/29/97 Cryptify v2.0 Documentation

Purpose:
Please read this whole text file in it's entirety before you use this
program.
Cryptify is a program that was designed to encrypt any file. It can
be used successfully on text files, compressed files, picture files,
and even word processor documents. It encrypts the file to a degree and
in a manner that it IS possible to crack cryptify, but it would take a
VERY long time, and a VERY lot of know how to do so.
It is suggested that you have at least a pentium system to run this
program. Each character of a file goes through a series of complex
alterations that take up processor time. On a 486sx/25 system, files
encrypt at about 2048 bytes per second, which is pretty slow. That is why
at least a pentium system is suggested for execution.

Usage:
It's easy to use cryptify. At the command line, just type the program
name, then the name of the file you would like to encrypt, and what you
would like the encrypted file to be named. You will then be prompted one
at a time for three different keywords. Only the first 20 characters of
any of the keywords is used. Any extra characters are ignored. You can
use either none, one, two, or all three of the keyword options. If you
decide to use none, the file will still be encrypted, just not as well as
if you used three, and not only that, but then anyone could decrypt it.
If you used two of the keywords, and left the third keyword slot empty by
just pressing enter, it would be a better encryption, and both of the
keywords would be required for decoding.
To decrypt a file, simply type the name of the decryption executable,
then the name of the file you would like decrypted, and the name you
would like the decrypted file to be. Here's an example.
                ENCRYPT AUTOEXEC.BAT AUTOEXEC.ENC
That command would encrypt autoexec.bat, and name the encrypted file
autoexec.enc.
                DECRYPT AUTOEXEC.ENC AUTOEXEC.BAK
That command would decrypt autoexec.enc and name the file autoexec.bak.
The files autoexec.bat, and autoexec.bak should now match each other
exactly, and the file autoexec.enc is an encrypted version of the same file.
Note: When you are entering passwords, avoid using the backspace key,
this may be included as one of the keywords, and would have to be typed in
to successfully decrypt the file. Not only that, but the keys should be
entered in the same order to decrypt as was used when encrypted.

Registration and Information:
To register Cryptify, all you have to do is send $5, and a note stating
that you would like to purchase a copy of Cryptify. Send registration
information to:

Please help to support your shareware authors by registering this
program. After all, it is only $5, and you will then be able to encrypt
a file any size you would like.
If you would like to receive your copy of the registered program by
E-Mail, rather than Snail-Mail, be sure to include your E-Mail address.
If there are any bugs that you would like to report, you can reach
me at hhis@hotmail.com, or the author himself at ragged69@hotmail.com.
We are ready to answer any questions that you might have, as well as bug
reports. Thanks.

Warning:
Neither HotHits, nor I assume any responsibility for damage caused by
this program. It comes as is. We are not responsible for information lost
due to forgotten keywords, or other similar circumstances. We are also not
responsible for information that could possible be acquired if the code were
to be cracked. Thank you.
This program as been used successfully on our systems, with no problems
at all. Therefore, it should work on almost any system, the only difference
being the speed of execution.
