Zenith Data Systems drops prices, ups HDD sizes of new high-performance
Z-STATION GT desktops

As much as 20 percent savings and double the hard drive capacity boosts
value of popular Pentium systems even higherFor Immediate Release

BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. -- August 14, 1995 -- Zenith Data Systems (ZDS)
announced today a dramatic price cut along with an increase in the hard
drive sizes of the new high-end, scalable Z-STATION GT series. The entire
line of Pentium-powered desktops, launched in May 1995, now features price
reductions from 2.5 to 20 percent, equating to savings of over $900 on
some systems. Four out of five fixed configurations of the Z-STATION GT
also ship with 540MB or 850MB HDD rather than the original 425MB-size
drives. The bold boost in the price/performance value of the
top-performance desktops is intended to maintain the strong introductory
sales momentum of the Z-STATION GT series.

"Response and demand since the Z-STATION GT launch has been phenomenal,"
said Jeff Loebbaka, senior director of desktop product marketing at ZDS.
"Customers have been very impressed with the overall balance of
performance and value, expandability and customization options. The new
lower prices and bigger hard drives make these high-powered systems even
more attractive."

Multimedia Performance and Savings Really Add Up

Powered by Intel 75, 90 and 120 MHz Pentium processors, the Z-STATION GT
desktops maximize computing efficiency with PCI local bus technology,
Flash-BIOS and S3 Trio 32- or 64-bit video graphic controllers. Users can
now save $905* on a mega-fast 120 MHz CPU fixed configuration featuring
16MB RAM, 256K cache, a 1.2GB HDD, 2MB video DRAM, Ethernet LAN card and
multimedia hardware including a 4x IDE CD-ROM, microphone, speakers and a
16-bit Sound Blaster audio card. The reduced price for the 120 MHz
multimedia Z-STATION GT is $3,657*, down from $4,562.

Larger capacity enhanced IDE Mode 3 hard drives further optimize the
Z-STATION GT family's outstanding performance capabilities, adding even
more value to lowered-price savings. The 90 MHz multimedia Z-STATION GT --
which used to come with a 425MB IDE HDD for $2,805* -- now features an
850MB drive, 90 MHz Pentium processor, 8MB RAM, 256K cache,2MB DRAM,
Ethernet LAN card and multimedia capabilities for a new low price of
$2,702* -- $103* less than the 425MB model.

"The Z-STATION GT series has been most popular with our education market,"
explained Loebbaka. "In particular, the multimedia configurations are
especially appropriate for the learning environment. Consequently, we've
given the biggest value boost -- by slashing prices and upgrading hard
drives -- to the systems our customers want and need the most."

Better Values Throughout the Family

Even the competitively priced 75 MHz Z-STATION GT has benefited from ZDS'
double value enhancement. Previously priced at $1,999*, the 75 MHz Pentium
system, which used to include a 425MB IDE drive along with 8MB RAM, 256K
cache and 2MB DRAM system, now features a 540MB HDD and lists for only
$1,829* -- a $170* savings. Likewise, the multimedia configuration of the
75 MHz model which includes an Ethernet LAN card and multimedia
capabilities offers the same increase in hard drive capacity to 540MB and
even bigger savings of $215* off the original $2,430* price, so it now
lists for $2,215*.

The scalable Z-STATION GT series also allows users to configure their own
customized high-performance solution and still save. For example, the
price of the 120 MHz Pentium Z-STATION GT with the optional S3 Trio64
graphics chip and Microsoft Office software is now $2,363*, representing
an $852* savings off the old $3,215* price. The price of the 75 MHz system
with the S3 Trio32 graphics chip has been reduced by $227* for a new list
price of $1,263*.

"We structured these price cuts to ensure those customers who need
assemble-to-order Z-STATION GT systems have the same opportunity to save
money as customers purchasing fixed configuration models while increasing
the performance, productivity and value of their desktop computers," said
Loebbaka. "Once again ZDS is making it easier to invest in today's
top-line technology with a link to tomorrow's computing standards, and is
ready to adapt to the customer's future needs."

Designed with the Future in Mind

Z-STATION GT desktops ship Desktop Management Interface (DMI) ready with
all of the hardware and client system software necessary to fully comply
within the DMI standard. Full support of Plug and Play technology makes
add-ins easy to install, set up and self configure, positioning Z-STATION
GT users to take advantage of powerful operating systems such as Microsoft
Windows 95. The top-performance systems also support DDC1, the automatic
synchronization capability for optimal video refresh rates.

Five open slots in Z-STATION GT configurations -- three 16-bit and two
32-bit PCI -- allow users to expand their systems to include data/fax
modems, Ethernet or Token Ring network cards, Sound Blaster cards, MPEG
video cards and many other options. Additional storage with a tape backup
or CD-ROM drive can be accommodated by two additional open bays.
