VIDAR INTRODUCES AFFORDABLE SCANNING FOR LARGE, LOW-CONTRAST DOCUMENTS

SAN RAFAEL, California, August 15, 1995...Vidar Systems Corporation rounded
out their TruScan product line today with the introduction of the TruScan
600 large-document scanner. Designed for engineering, CAD, construction,
reprographics, GIS, and mapping applications, the TruScan 600 offers an
affordable solution for users that want the convenience of real-time
thresholding but don't need the performance of a high-resolution scanner.

The TruScan 600 features Vidar's exclusive Adaptive Area Thresholding,
which automatically adjusts to wide variations in contrast and background
tone, converting the poorest original drawing into a crisp black-and-white
image. Other features include an interpolated resolution of up to 600 dots
per inch, 8-bit (256 level) grayscale, and a SCSI interface.

"With the addition of the TruScan 600 to our product line, user have a
broader choice of scanners, varying in resolution and price, to fit
low-end market needs as well as high-performance applications," said Mary
Jefferson, director of marketing communications. "While some users will
always need the performance of a high-resolution scanner, the TruScan 600
offers a middle ground for those users who require the features of
Adaptive Area Thresholding."

Vidar's TruScan line of large-format scanners are designed for continuous
use in commercial operations handling a high volume of different types of
documents. TruScan scanners reliably capture maps, engineering drawings,
and other kinds of wide-format documents at resolutions ranging from 75 to
800 dots per inch. The scanners are compatible with a variety of
third-party software for both IBM-compatible and UNIX platforms.

Vidar is a leading supplier of scanners and film digitizers. In addition to
the TruScan line of monochrome, grayscale, and color large-document
scanners, Vidar manufactures X-ray film digitizers for medical and
scientific applications, as well as an automatic aperture card scanner for
document management applications.

Vidar, headquartered in Herndon, Virginia, has representatives located
throughout the U.S., Europe, and the Far East. In early 1994, the company
opened a European affiliate in Sweden. Vidar products are available
worldwide through a network of distributors, VARs, OEMs, and systems
integrators.
