THOMAS-CONRAD'S NEW HIGH-PERFORMANCE TC4048 PCI ADAPTER EXTENDS FAMILY OF
TOKEN RING PRICE/PERFORMANCE LEADERS

July 31, 1995 Austin, Texas - Thomas-Conrad Corporation, a leading provider
of high-performance network transport solutions for workgroup computing,
announced today the availability of its TC4048 PCI token ring adapter. The
TC4048 is a high-performance 16/4Mbps token ring adapter that utilizes
bus-master data transfer over a 32-bit PCI bus. Consistent with
Thomas-Conrad's price/performance leadership goals, this new adapter
offers very high throughput at the lowest CPU utilization levels.

Along with the addition of the TC4048 PCI token ring adapter, Thomas-Conrad
has also redesigned its TC4145-C 16/4Mbps Plug and Play ISA adapter to
enhance reliability and deliver the industry's best price/performance. The
TC4145-C utilizes a new chip from Texas Instruments that provides the same
functionality previously required by two chips, thereby improving
manufacturing efficiency and adapter reliability.

According to Gail Daniels vice president of sales and marketing at
Thomas-Conrad, the company's token ring product line continues to thrive.

Thomas-Conrad is extending its price/performance leadership in the token
ring marketplace and steadily gaining market share. No other vendor offers
a comparable range of feature-rich, high-performance token ring adapters
at our competitive prices.

Esmeralda Silva, analyst at International Data Corporation agrees.

Thomas-Conrad offers an impressive range of high-performance token ring
adapters and continues to add value to products to build market share. We
continue to see growth of token ring within the existing installed base as
customers try to get the most out of their legacy networks.

TC4048 HIGH-PERFORMANCE FEATURES

The TC4048 features a 32-bit bus-master PCI interface and Plug and Play
auto-configuration. Fully software upgradeable, it is capable of standard
or full duplex operation. The TC4048 is fully compliant with the PCI local
bus specification 2.0 and the PCI Plug and Play standard. Bus-mastering
technology is used to maximize throughput and minimize CPU utilization.
For increased performance, Thomas-Conrad's Scalable Clock Architecture
lets users increase the frequency of the on-board clock to achieve higher
data throughput. For manageability and maintenance, the TC4048 ships with
an SNMP agent and TR Tools, Thomas-Conrad's diagnostic utility.

The TC4048 provides a DB9 connector for Type 1 STP (shielded twisted pair)
cable, and an RJ45 connector and on-board media filter for Category 3, 4
or 5 UTP (unshielded twisted pair) media. The adapter auto-detects which
connector is being used to speed installation.

Pat Patteson, functional manager for information services at Southwestern
Bell Telephone in San Antonio, Texas, is evaluating Thomas-Conrad's TC4048
for deployment in a five-state network encompassing more than 75 token
ring subnets. Patteson is looking at the PCI bus to provide a performance
boost that will allow numerous PCs using X-emulation to get data more
quickly off of Unix-based servers. With the Thomas-Conrad PCI token ring
adapters in our PC X-servers, we expect to achieve a 25 to 30 percent
improvement in performance over our current ISA adapters. We think that
Thomas-Conrad's bus-mastering technology is the key to that performance
increase.

FULL DRIVER SUPPORT

Driver support is provided for all popular network operating systems,
