TechSmith introduces the Foray PPP Server

Foray provides cost-efficient software solution for Internet access

Foray PPP Server, a multi-protocol PPP communications server, will be
released by TechSmith Corporation. Foray PPP Server offers a
cost-efficient way to provide mobile computer users and telecommuters with
multiport, secure, remote access. Using standard telephone lines, users
now have full remote access to critical corporate network resources,
including the corporate Internet connection. This latest addition to the
Enterprise Wide family of remote access products is the first commercially
available MS-DOS PPP server. An evaluation version can be downloaded after
the 25th from TechSmith's WEB site at www.TechSmith.com.

Foray brings the corporate Internet connection, as well as other TCP/IP and
IPX network services, to the remote user. By allowing individuals to use
their corporate PPP account instead of outsourcing, Foray can provide a
centralized remote access service point. Network administrators can save
time and money while providing multiple users with a secure LAN and
Internet link.

Uses include employee access from their home or remote office, to corporate
Internet links and other LAN resources, or remote diagnostic and
maintenance activities by system administrators. New customer service
opportunities can be provided through access to corporate information by
customers or vendors, such as order status or purchasing data. Regional
service can be provided by allowing local dial-in (PPP) access to Web
sites or FTP servers without the need for a PPP Internet provider for
access.

The Foray PPP Server allows users to "recycle" their 386 machines as they
migrate to 486, Pentium, or Power PCs, giving administrators the
opportunity to allocate hardware resources that might otherwise be
obsolete. This preserves their initial investment in the PC and makes it a
useful tool on their network.

The Foray PPP Server provides complete support for Microsoft's Windows 95
remote access features including callback and DNS negotiation. Users of
Windows 3.1 and Windows for Workgroups can dial in with a PPP compatible
client, such as the recently announced Foray PPP Client, Trumpet, or
CompuServe's Internet in a Box, to reach the corporate network and have
access to the corporate Internet connection. It also offers remote IP
access for Macintosh, UNIX workstations, and OS/2 Warp users.

The Foray PPP Server is available in 4, 8, 16, and 32 port configurations.
Pricing starts at $189.95, with multiple server and site licenses also
available from TechSmith and selected resellers. For more information on
the Foray PPP Server, please send email to foray-server@TechSmith.com.
