EDS' dbINTELLECT TECHNOLOGIES ADOPTS SYBASE WAREHOUSE WORKS AND SYBASE IQ

Emeryville, CA, August 7, 1995 -- Sybase, Inc., The Enterprise
Client/Server Company, today announced that EDS' dbINTELLECT Technologies
(dbI), which specializes in the development and implementation of
marketing information warehouse solutions, has adopted the SYBASE
Warehouse WORKS data warehousing framework and SYBASE IQ, the company's
Bit-Wise indexing product.

dbI specializes in developing and implementing marketing information
warehouse solutions to Fortune 1000, marketing service bureau companies,
and other large organizations. It also provides the tools, technologies,
and services to implement these warehouses, which address the challenges
marketers face in dealing with dynamic markets and enormous databases.

"The Warehouse WORKS framework is a perfect fit for us as an independent
systems integrator," explained Pete Estler, president of dbI. "Sybase is
committed to providing tools that interoperate with the other major
merchant database vendors. dbI implements its largest marketing databases
on an Oracle or Informix engine today and intends to add the SYBASE IQ
product to significantly enhance performance on marketing queries."
continued Estler.

EDS has provided consulting expertise to Sybase for the past six months to
define SYBASE Warehouse WORKS requirements as well as an end-to-end
warehouse solution for total integration. "Warehouse WORKS represents a
framework for the many data warehouse components that are required for a
total warehouse solution. SYBASE IQ represents the critical first
component and will be integrated into dbI's warehouse architecture,"
stated Estler.

Conventional Approach Inadequate For Rapid Response to Queries

"The conventional approach to achieving rapid responses to marketing
queries is simply not working today," Estler added. "We believe the type
of interactive response necessary for marketers to do their jobs
effectively can be achieved by using advanced bit mapped indexing. That's
why we've embraced SYBASE IQ as a key feature in our overall marketing and
systems capabilities"

Sybase/dbI Partnership Brings True Interactive Data Warehousing to Fortune

Michael H. Forster, president of Sybase's InformationCONNECT Division
(formerly MDI) said, "We're delighted to be working with dbINTELLECT
Technologies to bring true interactive data warehousing to their Fortune
1000 client base. dbI has emerged as a leader in providing the industry's
most advanced warehouse architecture, systems integration and professional
services to the marketing information warehouse marketplace. Working in
partnership with dbI will be a genuine win-win proposition for dbI's
customers as well as for dbI and Sybase."
