D&B and Sybase Announce Alliance In Data Warehousing

D&B Market Spectrum to Use Key Sybase Technology to Deliver Data Warehouse
Solutions

EMERYVILLE, CA, August 7, 1995 -- Sybase, Inc., The Enterprise
Client/Server Company and Dun & Bradstreet Information Services, today
announced plans to incorporate SYBASE Warehouse WORKS technology into D&B
Market Spectrum, a database marketing platform.

D&B Market Spectrum allows businesses to integrate and enhance their
internal information with Dun & Bradstreet information and other data
sources to support sales and marketing applications, such as identifying
new markets, targeting the highest potential prospects and aligning sales
channels. In addition to using Sybase Warehouse WORKS products for its
internal use, D&B plans to incorporate Sybase's Data Warehousing products
(SYBASE IQ, SYBASE MPP, Replication Server and ENTERPRISE Connect) into
D&B Market Spectrum.

"One of the toughest problems in data warehouse applications is the
classification and identification of customers across the range of I/S
systems," says Mike Forster, president of Sybase's Information CONNECT
Division.

"D&B Market Spectrum, combined with Sybase's leadership technology in
interactive data access, distribution and connectivity, will allow
customers to leverage D&B's D-U-N-S Number to classify existing and
prospective customers for a wide range of data warehousing
applications," adds Forster.

Dun & Bradstreet maintains a marketing database of more than 10 million
U.S. businesses. A key component in this database is D&B's D-U-N-S Number,
a unique numbering system that can identify a business entity, link
related companies within a corporate family and distinguish between firms
with similar names or addresses. The company also maintains a worldwide
database of 39 million establishments in more than 200 countries. All 10
million U.S. businesses maintained in Dun & Bradstreet's marketing
database have D-U-N-S Numbers, as do the 39 million businesses maintained
in D&B's global database. Both the United Nations and the United States
Federal Government have endorsed the use of the D-U-N-S Number for
electronic commerce applications.

"Sybase has been quick to recognize how Dun & Bradstreet can add integrity
to data warehousing," says Norm Rich, vice president of Database Marketing
Services at Dun & Bradstreet. "Combining Sybase's leading-edge technology
with Dun & Bradstreet's expertise in delivering information solutions will
help customers solve many common business marketing problems."
