Sheridan Introduces sp_Assist

Create, Code and Manage SQL Stored Procedures and Visual Basic Code

August 10, 1995 - Melville, NY. -- Sheridan Software Systems, Inc., today
announced the introduction of a new product, sp_Assist, a program aimed at
the rapidly expanding SQL Server database market. sp_Assist allows
developers to easily create, code and manage SQL stored procedures and
automatically generate Visual Basic code as well. Utilizing its own
multi-user database, sp_Assist allows multiple developers to work with
stored procedures over multiple servers. sp_Assist will then synchronize
all instances of the procedure, thus making sp_Assist the ideal product
for managing stored procedures through all phases of a project, including
coding, testing, QA and production. Its management facilities make it an
ideal tool for team development environments. sp_Assist has a
Manufacturer's Suggested List Price of $595, and will begin shipping
August 22nd.

sp_Assist can generate both SQL and Visual Basic code including INSERT,
UPDATE, SELECT and DELETE SQL stored procedure or queries as well as the
Visual Basic code, type definitions, and constants needed to call them.
sp_Assist provides numerous Wizards and Point-and-Click coding functions
to speed development. sp_Assist Project Files store all of the developer's
SQL Server source code in an indexed multi-user database separate from the
SQL Server allowing for multiple server development. sp_Assist controls
access and editing of the source code by user as well as tracking source
code changes.

sp_Assist interacts directly with the SQL Server to compile source code as
well as handling and compiling and recompiling for all SQL Object
dependencies automatically. sp_Assist can be set to prompt the developer
to GRANT RIGHTS when compiling SQL Objects. sp_Assist will run any valid
SQL command or query and will display any results and messages from the
SQL Server. sp_Assist is the only tool a developer will need to talk to
the SQL Server.

sp_Assist includes Database Administration tools geared toward the
developer's needs. These include User and Group management, creating ISQL
scripts, access to BCP functions, and SQL GRANT RIGHTS functions.
sp_Assist also provides a Windows interface to all SQL key words, system
administration functions and system stored procedures, eliminating the
need for the developer to remember cumbersome syntax.

"sp_Assist is a major breakthrough in making the life of a SQL developer
much easier," says Sheridan's President, Bob Wolf. "And for those
utilizing Visual Basic as a front end to SQL Server back ends, it is the
one ideal tool for rapid application development and maintenance."
