SCO STRENGTHENS WINDOWS FRIENDLY STRATEGY WITH ARCSERVE/OPEN TECHNOLOGY
FROM CHEYENNE

MAKES IT EASY TO BACKUP WINDOWS95 AND WINDOWS PCS AND OTHER CLIENTS FROM
SCO OPENSERVER SYSTEMS

SANTA CRUZ, CA/SCO Forum95 (August 21, 1995) - (NASDAQ:SCOC) Adding another
key building block to its client-integration strategy, SCO today announced
that it is licensing ARCserve/Open backup and restore technology from
Cheyenne Software, Inc. (AMEX:CYE) for the SCO OpenServer platform. The
product will make it easy for system administrators to backup Windows Pcs
and other clients from SCO OpenServer systems. SCO plans to use the
technology in future layered products that will become available in the
first calendar quarter of 1996.

Cheyenne ARCserve/Open enhances SCO OpenServer capabilities by providing
highly reliable backups of business critical data for SCO OpenServer
systems and their environments. Via an intuitive graphical user interface,
ARCserve/Open will provide SCO servers with fast, unattended backup
capabilities for a wide variety of industry operating systems, including
UNIX, Windows, Windows 95, NetWare, and Windows NT.

"Cheyenne is a leading developer of easy-to-use storage management software
for hetero-(geneous environments. It was therefore logical to choose
Cheyenne's ARCserve/Open technology to provide our SCO OpenServer
customers with the highest level of data security and disaster recovery,"
said Ron Rasmussen, SCO's director of systems management for the Layered
Server Products Division.

SCO's VAR channel and customer base are pleased that a comprehensive backup
solution will be available directly from SCO. "Reliable backup
capabilities have always been a requirement in our market, and until now
we have relied on third parities to supply the solution," said Pascal
Demilly, CEO of New Generation Systems. "I'm confident our SCO-based
solution will now be well integrated and supported with a leading backup
and restore tool that will ultimately lower our support costs."

SCO's new Layered Server Products division develops and acquires layered
product technologies that run on SCO OpenServer systems, as well as other
UNIX Server platforms. Product technology areas include PC connectivity
services, systems management, and distributed computing. ARCserve/Open
will add even more punch to SCO's already strong Windows Friendly strategy
by providing administrators with a powerful and effective way to backup
Window PCs and other clients from SCO OpenServer systems.
