SCO PUTS AUGUST 24TH ON THE UNIX CALENDAR WITH WINTIF 95

UNIX SOFTWARE RUNS TRANSPARENTLY UNDER WINDOWS 95

SANTA CRUZ, CA/SCO Forum95 (August 21, 1995) - (NASDAQ:SCOC) Further
strengthening its Windows Friendly strategy, SCO today announced its
Wintif 95 technology that allows customers to quickly take advantage of
the new Windows 95 desktop standard. Wintif 95 enables developers and
users of UNIX System programs to obtain an appearance and behavior of the
Windows 95 graphical user interface without modification to their
software. The product will be available in October, 1995. Information
about how Wintif 95 works is currently available on the World Wide Web, at
http://www.x.co.uk//news.

UNIX System applications typically offer desktop PC users an incompatible
graphical user interface that fails to exploit the benefits of one common
user environment for all software. Re-writing UNIX System software to
support a Windows appearance is expensive - it often takes months of
re-coding and is difficult to achieve, using tools that follow alternative
UNIX GUI standards. Wintif 95 solves these costly problems in one stroke
by easily adapting the Motif look and feel for UNIX System software to
match the new Windows 95 standard. Wintif 95 users accessing UNIX servers
will obtain a full Windows 95 view of server-based applications.

"Microsoft expects to spend more money on the marketing of its new Windows
95 interface than on any other single product in the company's history,"
says Ray Anderson, vice president of SCO's client integration division.
"The UNIX industry has already had to face the growing dominance of
Windows 3 on the desktop, but the impact of another Microsoft look and
feel - in particular on the corporate desktop - could be a real headache.
Wintif 95 means that UNIX System vendors can focus their strengths on the
server and leave customers to decide what they want on their PCs."

Wintif 95 is based on the Motif toolkit (a UNIX standard). Using code-level
modifications, a Motif application presents a Windows 95 appearance on a
PC user's screen. PC users operating within Windows 95 can run UNIX System
software transparently as if it were originally designed for their desktop
system.

"We are offering customers uncompromised support for UNIX Systems and
Windows 95," adds Anderson. "In addition to Wintif 95, our XVision PC X
server supports all Windows client systems, including Windows 95, Windows
NT and 'legacy' Windows 3 desktops." Wintif 95 will be available for
evaluation to users of IXI Premier Motif at the end of September.

SCO's client integration division was formed earlier this year as a result
of merging SCO's IXI and Visionware subsidiaries. The division focuses on
product solutions for customers integrating UNIX server and Windows
desktop networks in the rapidly growing field of client/server computing.
