First Mac OS Licensee Cuts Prices 30% and Adds Same Day Shipments

AUSTIN, Texas. -- July 31, 1995 -- Delivering on the promise to deliver
PowerPC-based Macintosh OS compatibles to the masses, Power Computing
Corporation today announced that it has successfully ramped the volume
product capability of its award-winning Power 100 system.

The efficiencies provided by volume production allow Power Computing to
immediately lower the based configuration price of a Power 100 system to
$1,699 - representing a breakthrough price cut of nearly 30%. In addition,
the company has instigated a comprehensive quick-ship program that allows
popular configurations to ship the same day.

The $1,699 Power 100 base configuration consists of the PowerPC 601 running

and over $900 in bundled software including Claris Works, FWB's Hard Disk
ToolKit, CD-ROM ToolKit, Quicken, Now Utilities, Now Up-To-Date, Now
Contact, a 90-day trial version ofInsignia Solution's SoftWindows 1.0, 250
Bitstream Type 1 and TrueTypeand a collection of on-line starter kits. All
Power Computing systemscome with a one-year warranty; Power Computing also
offers extended, one,two and three year next business day, on-site service
packages at nominalfees.
