New Software Gives Net Surfers Instant Access, Real-Time Conversation

August 8, 1995, Boca Raton, FL - Internet users can instantly access others
from anywhere on the Net for private, real-time, text-based conversation
with PersonalNet's r.u.there?, the first software that automatically
searches for static and dynamically allocated IP addresses.

Similar to the instant message feature used by online services, two
friends, family members or business associates can converse immediately
rather than having to wait for e-mail to pass back and forth, and for less
expense than telephone toll calls. r.u.there?'s access service is only
$29.00 per year from the Boca Raton, FL-based company. The client software
and upgrades are free.

Real-time conversation using Internet conferencing or chat software is
possible only by knowing users' IP addresses, the universal Net
communication protocol. But most IP addresses change every time users log
on to the Net. Meeting with specific users often requires scheduling times
to talk and relaying conversations through a central server. This can be
inconvenient and conversation can be slow if these servers handle heavy
traffic.

As long as the receiving party is logged on to the Net and using
r.u.there?, a user can initiate a conversation with that person.
r.u.there?'s server automatically locates the person's most current IP
address, even if this address is dynamically allocated, connects the two
users, then drops out of the communication loop. r.u.there? leaves a note
with the originator's name and time of the contact if a user is not
available to take the "call."

Using r.u.there? together with communication programs such as CUSEEME video
conferencing software and VocalTech Voice Chat Net "telephone" will
compensate for these products' inability to locate dynamic IP addresses.
Users can search with r.u.there? to find a person's IP address, then pass
that address over to the other communication software.

r.u.there? gives users an added value with its Universal Member Locator,
which enables users to do global Internet searches for other r.u.there?
users' e-mail addresses. Users who know someone's name or the company they
work for can search on either data and find the person's e-mail address.

People who want to use r.u.there? can either access PersonalNet's Web site
[personalnet.com] to download the 20K Windows client software and
documentation, or send e-mail to [e-mail address] to receive the software
by return e-mail. r.u.there? software for UNIX and Apple Macintosh
computers will be available later this year.

When users receive the software, they can chat with registered r.u.there?
users, and search the r.u.there? Universal Member Locator. However, users
must pay $29.00 to register before they can be listed with the r.u.there?
service and contacted by other r.u.there? users.

From now until September 30, PersonalNet is offering a special "friend and
family" bonus. Everyone who registers will be able to sign up one friend
or family member for a free one-year service membership.

PersonalNet will release a multi-user version of r.u.there? this Fall that
lets users communicate in real time with groups of people, which should be
popular with marketing, sales and customer service and support
professionals. Given this release's potential popularity with Net
commercial sites, PersonalNet is aggressively pursuing distribution and
licensing agreements with companies that can benefit from r.u.there?'s
technology.

r.u.there? requires Windows 3.1, Windows for Workgroup, Windows NT or
Windows 95, 50K of hard disk space and 50K of RAM.
