The WELL Incorporates PLS Search Engine Into Conferencing System

PLS Gives WELL Members Powerful Searching Capability

TAMPA, FLA., (One BBSCon) -- August 16, 1995 -- Today The WELL announced
the integration of the Personal Library Software search engine into its
vast conferencing system. WELL members can take advantage of PLS's
powerful natural-language and concept-based search capabilities to explore
The WELL's conferencing system for subjects that interest them or to
quickly locate the information they need. PLS technology is tightly
embedded into WELL Engaged!, The WELL's new conferencing interface
announced today.

"Searching creates new and highly personal paths into the richness of The
WELL's famous conferencing system," said Matt Koll, president of Personal
Library Software. "Whether your a reporter under deadline pressure, a
Webmaster in search of a recommended programmer, or just someone
interested in comments made by an individual WELL member, searching The
WELL becomes both instantaneous and fun. Our concept- discovery tools open
new doors into the richness of The WELL."

PLS Search Engine offers new dynamic taxonomy of The WELL

The PLS search engine will be incorporated into The WELL's conferencing
system as part of WELL Engaged!, a World Wide Web-based interface for The
WELL conferencing system. As a component of WELL Engaged!, the PLS search
engine provides an efficient means of information retrieval and a simple
way of navigating through The WELL's vast conferencing system. Members who
have trouble keeping up with all of the fast-moving discussions within the
conferences can quickly and effectively track information of interest to
them, with the ability to search any combination of topics or conferences
by date, postings, people or other phrases used in the discussions.
Members can also utilize the PLS engine to search The WELL's conferences
using its traditional Picospan system.

PLS's understanding of WELL Engaged!'s needs has allowed us to offer The
WELL community a new way of utilizing The WELL. PLS's search engine
creates a new dynamic taxonomy for The WELLUs famous conferencing system,
said Bruce Katz, CEO of The WELL. PLS's concept-based tools make it
possible for both new and existing members to quickly and easily find
their way to those discussions that most interest them.
