ON Technology Launches First World Wide Web Catalog Focusing Exclusively on
Tools for Novell Networks

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Aug. 11, 1995 -- ON Technology Corporation (Nasdaq: ONTC)
announced today the launch of its Editors' Choice Catalog for Novell
network tools on the World Wide Web. Originally the industry's first print
catalog exclusively focusing on tools for Novell networks, the new
Editors' Choice Internet Catalog takes advantage of the World Wide Web
medium to provide customers and prospects with a graphical, interactive
channel for evaluating and purchasing add-on software and hardware
products for Novell networks.

Located at http://www.on.com/edchoice.html, the Editors' Choice Internet
Catalog features a wide range of network products categorized by
application type, such as LAN management and utilities, scheduling and
groupware, and metering and auditing.

"Our target audience of network administrators in medium to large size
corporations, institutions and government entities is spending more and
more time online, so it made sense to us to reach them with a medium that
is increasingly becoming their workspace," said John Rizzi, ON
Technology's Vice President of Sales.

"There are similarities between the print and online catalogs, but the
major difference is the Internet catalog contains a lot more information,
fits my online mode of operation and leverages the convenience of shopping
at my leisure, 24 hours day," said Ivan Talley of Littlefield Real Estate
in Austin, Texas, one of the first customers of the Editors' Choice
Internet Catalog.

The new Internet Catalog capitalizes on the WWW medium to make network
product shopping a convenient and comprehensive experience. For example,
nearly all product descriptions contain screen shots that expand at the
click of the mouse, providing life-size visual impressions of the product.
In another section of each product description, a highlighted "more
information" hypertext link triggers a comprehensive product briefing, a
list of system requirements, and additional product configurations -- in
most cases more information that is possible to include in the printed
catalog.

Further capitalizing on the medium, customers can automatically generate a
shopping list with the click of their mouse on each part number they
desire. This action generates an order form where the customer is
requested to enter in a quantity number and then shipping and billing
contact information. As additional part numbers are selected, that
information is entered on the order form. When the customer has completed
their shopping, the customer clicks on the "submit request" button and the
order is electronically sent to the Editors' Choice Internet Catalog order
processing department.

Due to the general uncertainty associated with transactions over the
Internet, ON Technology's Editors' Choice Internet Catalog currently does
not seek payment information for orders, preferring to collect this
information with a follow-up telephone call. "While this may change as
secure payment methods are perfected and people get more comfortable with
electronic commerce, we believe it's the safest course to take at this
time," said Rizzi.

In addition to publishing the Editors' Choice catalogs, ON Technology
Corporation develops, markets and supports groupware applications and
workgroup utilities software, including client/server tools for group
scheduling (Meeting Maker XP), group collaboration (Common Knowledge),
electronic mail (Notework and DaVinci eMAIL), software metering (SofTrack)
and server auditing (AuditTrack). ON software is designed to be simple to
install and easy to use, supports multiple client platforms, requires
minimum training and addresses proven customer needs.

A publicly held company trading under the symbol ONTC since August 1, 1995,
ON TechnologyCorporation is headquartered in Cambridge, Mass.
