Advanced Novell Client Software Will Connect Windows 95 Users to NetWare

NETWARE CLIENT 32 SOFTWARE WILL ENSURE ACCESS TO ESSENTIAL NETWARE
SERVICES, INCLUDING NDS

PROVO, Utah -- August 22, 1995 -- Novell, Inc. today announced plans to
pre-release software that will connect Microsoft Windows 95 users to
NetWare. Available near the end of September, the NetWare Client 32 for
Windows 95 will provide users with full access to essential NetWare
services, including NetWare Directory Services (NDS). Windows 95 users
will benefit from the Novell client's tight integration with Windows 95
native installation and network access interfaces, offering easy-to-use
connectivity to all NetWare services. The advanced 32-bit client software
will also include Novell's NetWare Application Launcher to streamline and
track application usage in NetWare environments. With the NetWare Client
32 for Windows 95, users of Microsoft's latest desktop operating system
will be assured of the richest connectivity to NetWare, the industry's
leading distributed network operating system (NOS).

"Novell is committed to giving network users the best access to all NetWare
services," said William Donahoo, director of product marketing for
Novell's Operating Systems Division. "Novell's Windows 95 client is based
on our NetWare Client 32 architecture, which leverages proven NetWare
server technology to guarantee reliability, maximize performance and
provide seamless connectivity. NetWare Client 32 includes all the familiar
features of existing NetWare clients, and offers feature-rich networking
access to all Windows 95 users."

LEVERAGE NATIVE WINDOWS 95 FEATURES

NetWare Client 32 for Windows 95 will offer users intuitive access to
networking services through native Windows 95 interfaces and networking
extensions to the Windows 95 desktop. Novell's client will install easily
either locally or across the network as a part of a group Windows 95
installation. Configuration is easy because most system settings are
automatically detected and stored in the Windows 95 Registry. New dynamic
resource allocation will minimize time spent configuring system
parameters, ensuring users get the speed and flexibility they want from
their network client.

Novell's NetWare Client 32 fully integrates with Windows 95 features. Users
will be able to access NetWare file and print resources through the
familiar Network Neighborhood and Explorer interfaces. In addition,
NetWare Client 32 lets Windows 95 users take advantage of long file naming
conventions on their NetWare server. NetWare servers can store Windows 95
user profiles so users maintain the same desktop connectivity to services
regardless of where they access a network. NetWare Client 32 also enables
Windows 95 System Policy support to be stored on NetWare servers so an
administrator can easily customize and manage user desktops from a central
location.

The NetWare Client 32 software enables administrators to implement NetWare
servers using the network protocols, hardware and applications of their
choice. Administrators can select from popular network drivers such as ODI
or NDIS and protocols including IPX or TCP/IP. They can enhance
performance by implementing the NetWare Client 32's packet burst and large
internet packet (LIP) options; administrators can also ensure secure
network environments by enabling packet signature and RSA password
encryption.

FULLY ACCESS NETWARE DIRECTORY SERVICES

The NetWare Client 32 for Windows 95 provides unparalleled connectivity to
NDS, the global, distributed database which maintains information about
all network resources. The directory dramatically lowers the cost of
network administration by enabling users to easily identify, access and
connect with information, resources and people. Novell extended the native
Windows 95 "Provider" interface, offering users a network-wide view of
directory resources to locate NetWare servers, printers, resources and
directory trees. Users can browse directory trees (including the file
system), map to drives and change NDS contexts and passwords from their
desktops.

EASE APPLICATION MANAGEMENT ACROSS NETWORKS

Included with the NetWare Client 32 for Windows 95, the NetWare Application
Launcher utility lets network managers create application objects in NDS
trees, expediting administration and simplifying user access. With the
Application Launcher, administrators can deploy network applications and
configure users' desktops from a single location, significantly reducing
administration time and costs. The Application Launcher also automates
updates and filters applications available to users, further simplifying
application management. With the NetWare Application Launcher, users are
assured of consistent access to their productivity applications from
anywhere on a network.
