NETSCAPE UNVEILS NETSCAPE NAVIGATOR PERSONAL EDITION FOR WINDOWS 95

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (August 22, 1995) -- Netscape Communications
Corporation (NASDAQ: NSCP) today announced Netscape Navigator Personal
Edition for Microsoft Windows 95, giving users of the new operating system
one-button Internet access with the world's most popular browser. Netscape
has teamed with leading national Internet service providers (ISPs)
including Concentric Research Corporation, MCI Communications Corporation,
NETCOM OnLine Communications Services, and Portal Information Network to
ensure that users of Personal Edition for Windows 95 can choose the most
reliable and lowest cost Internet access.

Personal Edition for Windows 95 includes the full capabilities of the newly
released 32-bit Netscape Navigator 1.2, one of the first Internet browsers
to integrate the Windows 95 user interface and advanced features. Personal
Edition also includes full email capabilities, easy Internet access, and
remote connectivity capabilities to give users a complete dialup Internet
solution.

"Netscape Navigator Personal Edition combines easy set up and a choice of
Internet service providers with Netscape Navigator 1.2, designed
specifically for Windows 95," said Mike Homer, vice president of marketing
at Netscape Communications. "With Windows 95 interface enhancements,
support of drag-and-drop text and graphics, Internet shortcuts, and
Microsoft Exchange mail support, Netscape Navigator Personal Edition gives
users the richest Internet experience within the Windows 95 environment."

With Netscape Navigator Personal Edition, users can establish their
connection to the Internet in a few easy steps, whether they are creating
a new Internet account or using an existing account. For users that want
to create an Internet account, Netscape has partnered with leading
Internet service providers to enable users to select rates and services
that best meet their needs. Personal Edition's Registration Wizard guides
users through a short series of one-button online screens and then
connects them to an online hypermedia listing of Internet service
Providers, including NETCOM, Portal, MCI, and Concentric. Once users
choose a service provider, the software sets up an account with the chosen
provider automatically. From then on, Netscape Navigator Personal Edition
dials the service provider directly when launched.

Included in Personal Edition, the 32-bit version of Netscape Navigator 1.2
provides an integrated graphical interface for network navigation, email,
newsgroups, and file transfer features. It is optimized to provide high
performance over 14.4 kilobit/second modems as well as higher bandwidth
lines. Integrated security through the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) open
protocol enables users to conduct secure personal and financial
transactions over the Internet. Netscape Navigator also provides advanced
features, such as support for full HTML 3.0 tables and backdrops for more
visually compelling pages; MIME-compliant news reading and posting for
multimedia articles; and the Netscape Client Application Programming
Interface for easy integration of third-party applications.

The new Netscape Navigator Personal Edition includes the easy-to-use
Windows 95 interface design. New features for users include:

* Internet shortcuts, which enable users to simply drag and drop a link
from a Web page to the Windows 95 desktop, where it appears as an icon.
Users can then click on the icons and immediately go to their favorite Web
sites.

* Microsoft Exchange email support which allows users to send and receive
email within Netscape Navigator. Microsoft Exchange with Netscape
Navigator enables attachments, address lists, drag-and-drop files, and
other advanced mail features.

* Enhanced Bookmarks, which provide users with a folder-based,
drag-and-drop interface for saving, organizing, and accessing their
favorite Web sites. Users can drag-and-drop links from any Web page into
the bookmark window and arrange them according to their needs.

* Enhanced File Transfer interface, which enables users to download
multiple files while accessing other resources on the Internet.

* Integrated use of Windows 95 TCP/IP stack and dialer for connecting to
the Internet.
