MICROSYSTEMS SOFTWARE INTRODUCES CYBER SENTRY

First Productivity Management Tool for Cyberspace and Win 95 Corporate
Networked Environment

Monday, August 21, 1995, Framingham, Mass. -- Microsystems Software, Inc.
today introduced Cyber Sentry, the first corporate productivity management
tool to monitor access to the Internet and manage the corporate networked
environment. The product ships this week.

Cyber Sentry's dual functionality allows corporations to monitor employees'
use of the Internet, inhibit unauthorized activity and restrict individual
downloading of software to the networked environment. By doing so, Cyber
Sentry increases productivity and limits infiltration of viruses.

Cyber Sentry restricts access from any Windows or Windows 95 computer
network that uses WINSOCK-compliant Internet applications such as
Netscape, Microsoft Network, CompuServe or Mosaic to access the Internet.
Cyber Sentry works with any Windows network, including Novell, Banyan,
PC-NFS and NT Server, and uses a Windows agent to manage IP access,
application metering and other functions for Windows, Windows for
Workgroups, and Windows 95 clients.

"The Internet offers tremendous resources and opportunities to business,"
said Nigel Spicer, president of Microsystems Software. "However,
corporations are aware that these opportunities can potentially distract
employees, affect productivity and endanger the integrity of the network.
Cyber Sentry preserves productivity and maintains integrity for
organizations that utilize the Internet as a key resource for their
mission critical business."

About Cyber Sentry

Cyber Sentry maintains a list of applications on the network and IP
addresses (Internet protocol addresses) that are used by the network. When
a new IP address is accessed, Cyber Sentry can be configured to
automatically add the address to the application and IP list. It also
automatically blocks access to unknown IP addresses, creating an outbound
firewall; only those IP addresses on the permitted list are allowed. For
example, a company might use this functionality to only allow FTP access
to other company FTP sites.

An "Internet" application, activated when any user connects to WINSOCK, is
used to monitor and report on concurrent Internet use by users.
Corporations can control the number of concurrent Internet users and
report on daily, weekly and monthly Internet usage by user or department.
These reports provide the organization with an overview of computer usage
and can be used for department billing.

Any individual application on the network, such as Netscape or Mosaic, can
be metered, thus ensuring compliance with license agreements.

"Cyber Sentry provides companies with the additional flexibility to provide
limited or after-hours access to the Internet and other leisure
applications," said Spicer. "It is the first Internet access management
product for Windows and Windows 95 networks, and we expect it to play a
pivotal role in the implementation of Windows 95 and the Microsoft Network
over the next few months."

Pricing

Cyber Sentry is available for $695 (50-user license), $995 (100-user
license) and $1295 (250-user license). Organizations that use Software
Sentry, Microsystems Software's license metering package can upgrade to
Cyber Sentry for $500; existing customers in warranty or with valid
support contracts can obtain Cyber Sentry for $250. The Sentry-WAN and
Rev-'em-Up optional modules are available at $195 each per Cyber Sentry
license.

CyberNOT Block List

Cyber Sentry offers a listing of researched Internet sites containing
material which organizations may find questionable or wish to block during
business hours. The list is divided into categories and access can be
managed down to the file directory or page level. Appropriate material at
an Internet IP address need not be blocked due to the presence of
restricted material elsewhere at the address. Administrators may select
all, any or none of the categories to be blocked by general content, time
of day, or specific Internet site.

The sites on the Cyber NOT Block List are reviewed by a team of
professionals at Microsystems, including managers, parents and teachers.
They use a set of criteria that categorizes Internet sites and resources
according to the level of possibly objectionable content. The core
CyberNOT categories include: Partial Nudity; Nudity; Sexual Acts/Text;
Gross Depictions; Racist/Ethnic; Gambling; Satanic/Cult; Drugs & Drug
Culture; Militant/Extremist; Violence/Profanity; Questionable/Illegal and
Alcohol, Beer & Wine.

Cyber Sentry also includes an additional set of Leisure Only CyberNOTs,such
as Sports & Leisure, that the company may choose to block during business
hours, but make available to employees after-hours. Organizations can
select the categories of content that they wish to block, and can allow
access to any site on the CyberNOT List which they deem appropriate. The
Cyber Sentry Administrator can also deny access to additional sites not
included on the CyberNOT List, and can control/block access to the major
on-line services as well as other defined applications such as games.
There is one customized list per Cyber Sentry server. The CyberNOT list is
updated weekly and can be automatically downloaded via the Cyber Sentry
software to the Cyber Sentry Administrator's workstation.
