Interchange Online Network in beta; plans Web links

August 17, 1995 -- CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- AT&T today announced that it will
soon begin beta testing integrated links to the World Wide Web from within
AT&T Interchange Online Network, a network of specialized online services
developed by independent publishers. Integrated Web access will be
commercially available in September. To deliver it, AT&T Interchange
Online Network has incorporated into its client software the Netscape
Navigator software from Netscape Communications Corporation.

The Web access capabilities deliver on AT&T Interchange Online Network's
previously announced strategy of providing easy, value-added access to
Internet resources. The capabilities also complement AT&T's WorldNet
Services, announced Tuesday, which will make getting on the Internet as
easy as using the telephone.

AT&T Interchange services provide members with focused information products
and interactive communities that share special interests. Independent
publishers currently offering services hosted on the AT&T Interchange
network include Ziff-Davis Interactive, The Washington Post, the
Minneapolis/St. Paul-based Star Tribune and The Gartner Group.

With the new Web access capabilities, AT&T Interchange publishing partners
will be able to easily build Web links into their content to supplement or
enrich their services. When an AT&T Interchange service member clicks on
an embedded Web link, Netscape Navigator is automatically launched,
transporting the member directly to the specified Web site.

"Because AT&T Interchange is built on TCP/IP, the communications backbone
of the Internet, our platform can deliver seamless integration between its
services and the Web -- a level of integration that has eluded other
commercial online services to date," said Michael E. Kolowich, president
of Interchange Online Network. "We're tremendously excited to be using
Netscape, the standard bearer in Web browsers, to deliver integrated links
and navigation from AT&T Interchange service content to the Web. In doing
so, we're raising the bar in helping people find, access and use
information about their interests -- no matter where it exists online."

Integrated Web browsing and other Internet access capabilities will be
available in the next release of the AT&T Interchange client software,
scheduled for September. The Netscape Navigator 1.1 software will be
available as a free download for AT&T Interchange service members; no
additional software or Internet account will be required. More details
will be available when the AT&T Interchange Web browsing and other
Internet enhancements are commercially available.

Originally part of Ziff Communications Company, the Interchange product,
management team and staff were acquired by AT&T Corp. (NYSE: T) in
December 1994. Part of AT&T Business Communications Services, the AT&T
Interchange network complements and advances AT&T's strategy of providing
open and intelligent "hosting" networks on the Internet in which
publishers, software companies, information providers and others can offer
their products and services to their customers.
