INTERPLAY TO RELEASE 360-degree AD&D ACTION GAME

GAME FIRST EVER TO LICENSE BEST-SELLING DESCENT 3D ENGINE

August 10, 1995 -- Irvine, California -- Interplay Productions, Inc.
announced today at the GEN CON Game Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin the
second addition to its Advanced Dungeons & Dragons product line, Forgotten
Realms: Descent To Undermountain. This game runs on the same 3D engine
from Parallax Studios that made the original Descent a huge hit. It is
also the first game to be licensed using the 3D engine under a long-term
agreement Interplay has with Parallax Studios.

"This is the first game that combines action with RPG character development
aspects," stated Mark O'Green, Interplay's AD&D division director about
the Descent To Undermountain project. "We are creating a sub-genre of game
play with Descent to Undermountain. This is the non-stop action side of
role-playing."

Descent To Undermountain is a fast-paced, 360-degree 3D action RPG that is
set in one of TSR's most popular worlds, Forgotten Realms. Key AD&D
characters are present in this game with all of their traits and
characteristics intact making a stimulating and varied computer game
experience for the player. One of the first games of its kind to use 3D
polygon enemies, Descent To Undermountain is challenging for beginning and
advanced players alike. With multi-player support as well as an option for
game play viewed simultaneously with the player's screen map, conquering
the enemy never has to be interrupted in this subterranean adventure for
the PC available in the first quarter 1996.

Interplay will also be releasing their Descent To Undermountain on-line
version of this game in early 1996. The versatile potential for the
on-line version of this game is mind-boggling. As varied in environments
as role-playing games were meant to be, this version will stand as a
viable emulator of traditional AD&D games.

The first AD&D project from Interplay, Dragon Dice begins a series of
original, new approaches that Interplay is taking in designing new
interactive AD&D titles. Dragon Dice from Interplay has been coined as a
strategy "roll" playing game with variety where the object is to gain
control of two lands to win. Available October 1995, it will never be
played the same.

TSR is the world's largest manufacturer of role-playing adventure games and
books, including the best-selling line of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons
games. More than 2 million copies of AD&D computer and video games have
been sold to date. Interplay's agreement with TSR allows them to produce
computer, home video and coin-operated games.
