SPA Appoints Melinda Griffith As State Policy Coordinator

August 3, 1995 (Washington, DC) -- The Software Publishers Association
(SPA) announced today the appointment of Melinda Griffith as its State
Policy Coordinator. In this new position, Griffith will help implement
SPA's twin state advocacy objectives of expanding the use of technology
into education as well as promoting stronger markets for educational
software.

Prior to joining SPA, Griffith was a legislative analyst at USX Corporation
where she lobbied corporate positions on Capitol Hill and organized
nationwide PAC and grass roots programs. She is a former Washington, DC,
school teacher and technology coordinator, and also contributed to the
U.S. Office of Technology Assessment's 1995 report, Teachers and
Technology: Making the Connection.

"Melinda's broad experience as an educator and technology advocate will
serve SPA's members well as we seek to expand SPA's involvement at the
state level and inform the software industry of key trends shaping state
and local education policy," according to David Byer, the association's
education policy manager.

Griffith holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration from The American
University, and received her Bachelors in American Culture from Vassar
College.

The Software Publishers Association is the principal trade association of
the PC software industry. Its 1,150 members represent the leading
publishers in the business, consumer, and education software markets. The
SPA has offices in Washington, DC, and Paris, France. SPA press releases
