The Desktop Link to Notebooks and Laptops Adds Capability

Los Gatos, CA -- August 7, 1995 -- Greystone Peripherals, Inc., the leading
supplier of PCMCIA reader/writers, today introduced its newest model, the
four-slot GS-440 CardDock.

This unit is the only reader-writer on the market to accommodate four PC
card Types I, II, and/or III installs easily in a 5.25-inch full-height PC
bay, and includes software for either DOS or Windows. The new CardDock is
a totally compatible solution for reading and the exchange of data files
and peripherals I/O functions between mobile and desktop PCs using PC
cards.

The unit includes all features for which CardDock reader/writer products
are noted, including ruggedized patented eject mechanism, front-panel
telephone jack and convenient plug and play installation.

"As always, there is a premium on front panel space on a desktop. And if a
user is committed to PC cards on their laptop, it is a real plus to be
able to use PC cards on the desktop too," said John Usher, Greystone's
president. "Four PC card slots on a desktop, especially a variety of
types, beats anything else on the market."

Usher said that for these reasons, Greystone's newest CardDock is expected
to appeal to the OEM and add-on markets as a value-added PCMCIA adjunct,
either for linking mobile units to desktops, or to upgrade desktops to
PCMCIA capability.

The four-slot CardDock is the only reader-writer now on the market that
incorporates PCMCIA devices up to 15 mm. This flexibility both ensures
compatibility with form factors greater than the 10.5 mm maximum Type m
standard, and provides room for greater read-write storage.

The CardDock family of universal reader/writer for PC cards is fully
compliant with PCMCIA version 2.0x specifications for memory and I/O cards
and Intel ExCA specifications.

Greystone's proprietary feature is a convenient front panel jack for
telephone and other communications connections required by PC Modem
cards.

The CardDock software manages system resources with easy-to-use pop-up
menus, and includes DOS- and Windows-compatible PCMCIA Card Services and
Socket Services software for configuring the system and each PC card,
managing I/O ports, interrupt levels and memory blocks. As a result, PC
cards can be moved from system to system, one slot to another, without
identification conflicts, much as a floppy diskette.

Greystone Peripherals' CardDock PCMCIA PC Card reader/writer family also
includes:

* Basic CardDock, Model GS-220 two-slot unit, with a suggested list
  price (SLP) of $199
* Floppy CardDock, Model GS-220F, two-slot unit, SLP of $219
* Type Adaptor (TA-50) PCMCIA Slot Adaptor, SLP of $49.

Each turnkey CardDock includes four-slot docking bay hardware. interface
cards which installs into 1 6-bit AT-bus slots, cables and software.
Occupying a full-size slot in the front of any PC, the unit is designed to
mount PCMCIA cards almost flush with the PC's front bezel. The CardDock
unit is easy to install and use, featuring LED read/write activity
indicators.

Greystone's Model GS-440 (four slots) CardDock reader/writer is available
immediately at a suggested list price of $398 with quantity discounts
available. The CardDock is warranted for one year. CardDock units are
marketed to dealers, distributors, VARs/VADs, OEMs and via telemarketing
to the U.S. and overseas.
