New Hard Disk ToolKit - Supports PCI and 2 Terabyte Volumes!

Version 1.8 Now Includes Native Drivers, TurboBoot and HDT Diagnostic

Menlo Park, CA - July 28, 1995 - FWB, Inc., manufacturer of the Hammer
brand of high performance mass storage products, today announced a major
upgrade to Hard Disk ToolKit and RAID ToolKit designed to boost
performance and compatibility with Apple's newest systems and software.
Version 1.8 is now optimized for the Power Macintosh with PCI, System
7.5.2, the "native" SCSI Manager, 2 Terabyte Volumes, Fast & Wide SCSI-3,
and all of Apple's new driver rules.

"This new version of Hard Disk ToolKit ensures complete compatibility with
Apple's new Power Mac with PCI family - including the 7200, 7500, 8500,
and 9500."; commented Mike Micheletti, FWB's Software Marketing Manager.
"Plus, we've added major enhancements including new TurboBoot and HDT
Diagnostic for faster performance and improved data integrity".

New TurboBoot dramatically speeds system start-up time. Designed for every
user that hates to wait - TurboBoot tracks which inits load during
boot-up. By intelligently prescanning these files into RAM - (before
they're ever requested by the Mac) TurboBoot can substantially reduce
start-up time. This revolutionary technology works transparently to make
init loading 30%-100% faster. It has been extensively tested with hundreds
of different inits and control panels and has been proven to be both safe
and effective for speeding system start-up.

HDT Diagnostic is an automated diagnostic tool designed to protect data
integrity by anticipating disk problems. HDT Diagnostic performs a surface
scan of system storage automatically at boottime. HDT Diagnostic displays
the drive's ready status and assesses possible data integrity problems.
Any increase in un-mapped bad blocks will be flagged as an indication of
media defects. This presents users with the advance warning needed to keep
their data secure and their system up and running. HDT Diagnostic can
monitor drives, arrays, or removable media and supports user configurable
testing for customized operation.

Native Drivers increase performance on Power Macintosh CPUs by taking
advantage of the new "native" Device Manager System 7.5.2. This allows
Power Macs to execute all read/write requests in "native" Power PC mode.
By eliminating the 68k emulation layer present on first generation Power
Macs - all aspects of system I/O performance benefit.

Use version 1.8 to create 2 Terabytes partitions - that's 2000 gigabytes in
a single desktop icon. RAID ToolKit can now stripe up to 15 fast & wide
SCSI-2 mechanisms together into huge mega-volumes. Corporate and graphics
users working with digital video, large color prepress files or storage
hungry networks, can now use the new ToolKit to maximize on-line storage
like never before.

Hard Disk ToolKit and RAID ToolKit 1.8 includes other enhancements for the
Power Macintosh with PCI platform and 68K Macs:

HDT Primer - now allows access to SCSI-3 "wide" addresses and supports up
to 15 mechanisms on "wide" SCSI busses such as the FWB JackHammer.

HDT World Control - now allows users to save and restore custom mode page
settings on-the-fly which makes it easier to adjust low-level cache and
verification settings for specific applications.

HDT BenchTest - now enhanced for better accuracy on the Power Macintosh
platform.

Mac OS Compatible - FWB's ToolKit is so reliable it was selected by Power
Computing and Radius for use on all their Macintosh OS Compatibles.

More Supported Mechanisms - More than 580 different SCSI drives are
directly supported including Quantum Fireball and the latest
high-performance drives from Seagate, Micropolis, Conner and others.

Upgrade Pricing and Availability

Targeted for release September 5, 1995, Hard Disk ToolKit owners can
upgrade to the new version 1.8 for just $29 (RAID ToolKit owners $49). HDT
Personal Edition and CD-ROM ToolKit owners can save $150 when they
trade-up to the complete Hard Disk ToolKit for just $49. Hard Disk ToolKit
owners interested in creating high performance arrays on the Power Mac,
can also step up to the award-winning RAID ToolKit at the special offer
price of $119- a savings of nearly $280 off the retail price of $399.
