Washington Post's Digital Ink in beta on AT&T Interchange

August 17, 1995 -- WASHINGTON -- Digital Ink Co., the electronic subsidiary
of the Washington Post Company, today announced that its online news and
information service, The Washington Post's Digital Ink, will soon provide
subscribers with direct Internet access. As part of AT&T Interchange
Online Network, Digital Ink will soon begin beta testing integrated World
Wide Web access using Netscape Communications Corp.'s Navigator software.

Integrated Internet access is scheduled to be available in September and at
that time, Digital Ink Co. will provide details of its Internet strategy.

"It is essential that we offer full Internet access and new services to the
Washington Post's Digital Ink subscribers, and today's announcement by
AT&T Interchange Online Network will enable us to implement these plans,"
said Donald Brazeal, editor and publisher of The Washington Post's Digital
Ink. "We are working in a number of Internet-related areas, both
advertising and editorial content, and will be offering new services
during the next several months."

With the soon to be available Internet capabilities, the Washington Post's
Digital Ink will be able to integrate Web links into content such as news
or sports articles or advertisements. When a subscriber to the Washington
Post's Digital Ink clicks on an embedded Web link, Netscape Navigator will
automatically launch and transport the subscriber directly to the
specified Web site.

Integrated Web access and other Internet access capabilities will be
available in the next release of AT&T Interchange client software,
scheduled for September. The Netscape 1.1 browser will be available as a
free download for subscribers of services hosted on the AT&T Interchange
network.

Headquartered in Washington, D.C., Digital Ink Co. is the electronic
publishing subsidiary of the Washington Post Company. In addition to the
online service, Digital Ink Co. includes the Post-Haste audiotext service,
which receives more than one million phone calls per month, as well as the
Broadband division, which develops and publishes multimedia CD-ROM
products.
