MOTION VIDEO PLAYER WITH HARDWARE MPEG-1 NOW SHIPPING FROM DIAMOND

DAUGHTERCARD FOR THE STEALTH64 VIDEO 3240XL AND 3400XL SUPPORTS VIDEO
PLAYBACK AND MORE

San Jose, Calif, August 2, 1995 -- Diamond Multimedia (NASDAQ: DIMD) today
announced it is shipping its Motion Video Player 2000 hardware MPEG
daughtercard for the award-winning Stealth64 Video 3000 Series multimedia
accelerators, formerly named the Stealth 64 Video VRAM. The Motion Video
Player 2000 provides hardware accelerated MPEG-1 audio and video
decompression for 30 frames per second (fps) playback of MPEG games,
interactive CD-ROMs and business applications. Estimated retail prices are
$299 for the hardware MPEG daughtercard, and $449 for the hardware MPEG
daughtercard with 2MB of VRAM memory. The Motion Video Player 2000 is
available through national distributors, OEMs and directly through
Diamond's customer service department.

By off-loading the MPEG-1 processing from the CPU, The Motion Video Player
2000 provides smooth, full-motion video on most 486 systems or above. Its
shared frame buffer architecture eliminates the compatibility problems
found with current MPEG upgrade solutions as well as provides full-screen,
30fps video playback in multiple graphics modes.

The Motion Video Player 2000 utilizes the C-Cube Microsystems CL-450 MPEG-1
decompression chip, and the S3 Vision VA integrated circuit for
high-quality color space conversion, scaling and dithering. This module
also allows for dual video windows from independent or similar video
sources and "video in" capabilities to view live video from NTSC or PAL
sources such as camcorders, VCRs and laserdisk players.

"The Motion Video Player 2000 is an ideal solution for hardware MPEG
playback, ensuring consistent MPEG performance and compatibility with the
graphics subsystem," said Ken Comstock, director of graphics product
marketing at Diamond. "MPEG-1 playback is quickly becoming accepted as the
compression technology of choice for both home and professional video
applications. The Motion Video Player 2000 meets the needs for
full-screen, processor-hungry interactive MPEG applications."
