DELL ANNOUNCES SWEEPING ENHANCEMENTS TO CORPORATE DESKTOP PRODUCTS

First Dell Product Line to Offer `Integrated' Networking

AUSTIN, Texas, August 7, 1995 -- A new product family with "integrated"
networking for corporate customers has arrived. One of the industry's
fastest desktop product lines got even faster today by adding Intel's most
powerful Pentium processor. Corporate customers can now more easily track
and manage desktops that are up to two years old.

These are the highlights of a comprehensive series of announcements made by
Dell Computer Corporation (Nasdaq: DELL) today in Austin, Texas.

The Dell OptiPlex G family of desktop computers

The new Dell OptiPlex G systems, aimed at price-sensitive corporate and
government customers, are the first products from Dell with integrated
networking, the result of Dell's strategic alliance with 3Com Corporation.
3Com has long been recognized as the leader in PC networking technology.

The Dell OptiPlex G family of systems is available immediately, starting at
$1,878 in the United States for a system configured with a 75 megahertz
(MHz) Pentium processor, 8 megabytes (MB) of random access memory, a 340MB
hard drive, the integrated 3Com Ethernet networking option, a 15-inch
color super VGA monitor, MS- DOS, Microsoft Windows 3.11 and a mouse.

New versions of Dell's OptiPlex DGX workstation-class computer Dell
introduced two new versions of the Dell OptiPlex DGX using Intel's 133 MHz
Pentium processor. The OptiPlex DGX is a high- performance, single or dual
processor-based desktop aimed at customers who require maximum performance
for mission-critical applications. These customers require the highest
quality and reliability available for which the DGX is ideal. Dell also
announced selected price reductions on the OptiPlex DGX family, effective
today.

Available immediately, the new OptiPlex DGX systems are priced starting at
$4,790 for a system with a single 133MHz Pentium processor and $6,289 for
a dual-processor model. The systems above are configured with 16MB of
memory, a 1 gigabyte (GB) SCSI hard drive, 256 kilobytes (KB) of Level 2
cache, an UltraScan 15-inch Trinitron color monitor, Windows NT 3.5 and a
Microsoft mouse.

The second generation of the Dell Inspector software Dell Inspector, Dell's
system management application, is a graphical user interface designed to
give corporate customers access to system information down to the
component level. The latest version of the software enables customers to
access information on Dell OptiPlex systems that are up to two years old.
The new version of the Dell Inspector is available immediately and is
included on all Dell OptiPlex desktop systems free-of-charge.

"The goal of the Dell OptiPlex line is to offer corporate and government
customers a highly reliable system that is optimized for use in a
networked environment," said Tom Martin, Dell's vice president of
marketing for major accounts. "We are seeing the vast majority of all
desktops sold to corporations today being connected to a network. The
systems and software we've announced today fit right into that trend.
Reliable. Extensively tested. Integrated networking. Ready to go. These
are the ideal products for today's highly networked corporate world."

The Dell OptiPlex product line is designed to help reduce the total cost of
owning and maintaining a computer over the entire life of the product,
known as the life-cycle cost. For several years, Dell has been focused on
reducing the life-cycle cost of computing and today's announcement is a
further extension of that strategy.

For example, the OptiPlex G family helps reduce the traditional costs
associated with adding a PC to a network and tracking that asset once it
has been installed. The cost to install a network interface card, load the
related software drivers and retest a system can run as high as $200 per
system. The Dell OptiPlex G has the network interface card and software
already installed, saving the customer those installation costs -- which
can run into the hundred of thousands of dollars per year for customers
purchasing large numbers of systems for their networks. The Dell Inspector
also reduces the time -- and thus the cost -- of keeping track of the
systems once they are installed, further reducing the overall life-cycle
cost of the system.

A Fortune Global 500 company, Dell Computer Corporation is the world's
leading direct marketer of personal computers and one of the largest PC
manufacturers in the world, based on annual revenues of nearly $3.5
billion. Dell designs and customizes products and services to end-user
requirements and offers an extensive selection of peripherals and software
through the DellWare program. Information on Dell and its products can be
