FILEMAKER PRO 3.0 FOR WINDOWS 95 FEATURED AT MICROSOFT KICKOFF

Redmond, WA., Aug. 24, 1995 - FileMaker Pro 3.0 for Windows 95, the only
cross-platform end-user relational database with multi-network-readiness,
will be previewed lived at the Microsoft Windows 95 launch in Redmond, WA.
on August 24 along with ClarisWorks 4.0 for Windows 95 from Claris
Corporation. The two products will be featured within the Business and
Education Pavilions on the Microsoft campus.

FILEMAKER PRO 3.0: DESIGNED FOR WINDOWS 95

Featuring full 32-bit computing capabilities, OLE 2.0 support, and other
standard Windows 95 capabilities, FileMaker Pro 3.0 for Windows 95, which
will bear the Windows 95 logo, is being designed to specifically match the
needs of its small business and workgroup customer base. In contrast to
high-end DBMSs (Database Management Systems) designed for developers,
FileMaker Pro is one of the few databases typically installed and used by
the same person.

FileMaker Pro 3.0 for Macintosh and Windows 95 will ship from Claris later
this year. The company has not issued information on pricing and system
requirements as yet for FileMaker Pro 3.0.

"Both current and future customers along with third-party developers using
FileMaker Pro will be pleased with our unique approach to enhancing
database management with relational capabilities within this next major
revision of FileMaker Pro," said Guerrino De Luca, president, Claris
Corporation. "FileMaker Pro 3.0 will provide the key relational database
capabilities that our customers are asking for while maintaining its
legendary ease-of-use. Converting both data and files from FileMaker Pro
2.1 for Macintosh and Windows to version 3.0 will be accomplished in one
easy mouse click. Just like today's FileMaker Pro, the new version will
continue to be the fastest, easiest way for small businesses, workgroups
and developers to create database applications."

GIVES END USERS A CHOICE OF RELATIONAL OR FLAT-FILE MODE PLUS MANY NEW
ENHANCEMENTS TO HASTEN PRODUCTIVITY

FileMaker Pro 3.0 for Macintosh and Windows will offer users key relational
capabilities including the ability to establish "one-to-many" and
"many-to-one" joins between tables. In addition, the product will continue
to offer its intuitive "Look-Up" feature that allows users to easily paste
related data between files. Users may elect to retain their database files
in flat-file mode, or, alternatively, create files that are related to
other database files. Conversion of existing FileMaker Pro 2.1 database
files is as easy as opening them in version 3.0.

Other key new enhancements slated to be featured within the product include
automatic phone dialing, new mail merge coding, greater text handling
flexibility, and new tools to assist in creating new layouts. The company
will also enhance scripting capabilities to support developer based
FileMaker Pro solutions.

FIVE INTEGRATED FILEMAKER PRO SOLUTIONS TO MEET CUSTOMER NEEDS

The powerful new features now being incorporated into FileMaker Pro 3.0
represent the latest stage of the Claris multi-year plan for the
development of a comprehensive end-user database application that
specifically meets both the immediate and long-term needs of the product's
target customers. Today, Claris is the only PC software vendor with five
seamlessly integrated cross-platform database products designed for a wide
variety of users:

* FileMaker Pro Server Starter Pack (5 FileMaker Pro Mac or Windows
licenses and FileMaker Pro Server software), with client-server file
sharing for fast performance for up to 100 licensed users over Novell IPX
and AppleTalk networks ($1799 suggested retail price).

* FileMaker Pro Solutions Development Kit, available for third-party
developers who are members of the Claris Solutions Alliance for creating
FileMaker Pro-enabled database solutions.

based database solutions offered by third-party independent developers,
who are members of the Claris Solutions Alliance.
