CompuServe Unveils Industry-Best Windows `95 Technical Support and Web
Browser

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Aug. 21, 1995--As with any great change, computer users
will look for help to adjust to the new environment Microsoft Windows `95
will create. And they will find everything they need for the brave new
world in the same place they have always looked...CompuServe.

Today, the online information industry leader, CompuServe, reaffirmed its
role as the best place in cyberspace to obtain technical support and
product information by unveiling its Windows `95 online support service
(GO WIN95). The technical support/product help area, available on August
22, will be one of the most extensive available and is expected to become
one of the most widely used software support areas on CompuServe.

The Windows `95 Support area features numerous technical and
consumer-oriented services. It provides in-depth product information and
trouble-shooting advice; extensive shareware products and a shareware
development contest; access to the hottest Windows `95-enhancing files and
drivers available; a clipping service for Windows-related news articles; a
conference area for industry and technical experts to hold interactive
discussions; the ability to purchase Windows `95 and much more.

"Windows `95 is being heralded as one of the biggest product releases in
the history of computers, and CompuServe is positioned to provide the kind
of in-depth support and expertise that such a mammoth release requires,"
said Rob Mainor, vice president of Product Marketing and Business
Information Services. "The sheer magnitude of the Windows `95 launch
guarantees that there will be a tremendous demand for this kind of
support, and as the industry leader, we are ready."

CompuServe and other online and software application development companies
are currently in a battle with Microsoft over the bundling of the
Microsoft Network with the Windows `95 operating system. "Those issues,"
said Mainor, "do not impact CompuServe's determination to provide the
highest quality technical support in the industry. While CompuServe and
others continue to oppose the bundling of MSN with Windows `95, we have
never taken a position against Windows `95 itself. The fact is, we are
committed to meeting and exceeding our members' needs, and in this case,
that means providing the best Windows `95 support in the world."

CompuServe's ability to provide the best technical support for Windows `95
is recognized throughout the industry. According to Phil Schnyder, chief
executive officer of askSAM Systems: "As Windows `95 moves into the
mainstream, CompuServe will be more important than ever. As people migrate
to the new system, they will need the technical expertise available on
CompuServe. And unlike the Microsoft Network, we can be sure that
CompuServe will provide unbiased information about the entire range of
operating systems and computer products."

Beyond Win `95 Support

The area will not be limited to supporting the Win `95 operating system. It
will also offer assistance with questions and problems related to Win `95
compatible applications. "CompuServe offers a one-stop shop for online
support of Novell products" according to Mike Bishop, Director of
Electronic Support for Novell Inc. "Users can purchase a great Novell
product and then utilize NetWire on CompuServe to meet their support needs
-- it's a great combination." CompuServe Offers A Window To The Internet

CompuServe's Internet Services in Seattle, Washington, has announced the
next generation Web browser, Mosaic In A Box for Windows `95, the first
and only Internet software package available to consumers during the
Windows `95 launch.

"CompuServe will be one of the first to provide customers with a
comprehensive, yet affordable Web solution on Aug. 24," said Peter
Janssen, vicepresident of Merchandising and Advertising at Egghead
Software. "For consumers who want to browse the Web, Mosaic In A Box for
Windows `95 is a powerful add-on Internet package for Windows `95." The
product will be available with a 32- and 16-bit Web browser and will also
include Internet e-mail.

Not Rain, Nor Sleet, Nor Win `95...

CompuServe's electronic mail and Internet services also will be ready for
the Windows `95 era with a powerful application to open up the e-mail
world for Win `95 users.

CompuServe Mail for Microsoft Exchange puts the power of CompuServe Mail in
the hands of Windows `95 users. It allows people to send messages created
in the Microsoft Exchange mail client via CompuServe Mail. It offers the
ability to exchange messages with CompuServe members and users of the
Internet, X.400, LAN-based e-mail systems and other gateways. Users can
even send a fax or Telex. The product, which breaks down the barriers
between the different systems, combines the messaging convenience of
Microsoft Exchange with the unmatched reach and reliability of CompuServe
Mail. It will be available on Aug. 24 on the Win `95 CD or online in
CompuServe (GO CISSOFT). Technical support is already available on
CompuServe (GO CSAPPS).
