CE Software Adds Internet Connectivity To QuickMail 3.5

Leading Macintosh E-Mail System Delivers Internet Access In Every Box With
Internet Sampler Pak

West Des Moines, Iowa, July 31, 1995 - CE Software today announced its
plans to deliver Internet access in every box of QuickMail 3.5 with an
Internet Sampler Pak. Internet access will be provided via a UNIX-to-UNIX
Copy Protocol (UUCP) gateway called InterCall for QuickMail. The InterCall
gateway enables 10 QuickMail users to access the Internet from any
QuickMail server. Also included is a special offer from UUNET
Technologies, which will waive the first month's subscription fee to its
AlterNet service and provide QuickMail 3.5 customers with 10 free hours of
connect time.

"Providing customers Internet access in every package is in-line with CE
Software's market strategy," said Ford Goodman, president and CEO of CE
Software, Inc. "Since QuickMail's debut, CE Software has always striven to
deliver its customers an all-in-box E-mail solution, so when our customers
asked for Internet access - we delivered a sampler in every box, and at no
additional charge."

QuickMail 3.5 Users To Receive Internet Access With every QuickMail
purchase or upgrade to version 3.5, users will receive a 10 user,
(nonstackable) Internet Sampler Pak. This Internet sampler is not a demo,
it is full featured gateway that supports up to ten QuickMail users. The
InterCall gateway provides seamless access to the Internet via a dial-up
connection and supports such Internet features as:

* Internet mailing list subscriptions
* Multipurpose Internet Mail Extension (MIME) compliance
* Recognition of non-MIME character sets and content encodings
* Automatic character set detection and content encoding when
  replying to mail
* Integrated reading and posting of Usenet NetNews
* Unbatching, decompression and forwarding of articles from Usenet
  NetNews
* Binary, AppleSingle, AppleDouble, BinHex and uuencode enclosure
  formats

Out of the box, QuickMail users can use the Internet as a world-wide
communication network. By including this 10 user sampler in every package,
QuickMail customers are able to test the Information Superhighway risk
free. For customers who would like to add more than 10 users to the
Internet, CE Software also offers an unlimited version of InterCall
gateway for just $495.

Dial-Up Connection To The Internet

The InterCall gateway works transparently over a modem connected to the
QuickMail Server. It allows users to address Internet mail within
QuickMail's user-friendly interface and Internet addresses can be
imported, created, and stored in QuickMail address books for re-use.

Free Subscription and Connect Time

QuickMail users will also get 10 free hours of connect time and a free
month of AlterNet services standard with QuickMail 3.5. Customers will be
connected to UUNET within forty-eight hours of their request. UUNET
supplies UUCP access through its own hubs, through an 800 number, or via
CompuServe at thousands of local access points around the United States.

Included with QuickMail 3.5 To Ship In August '95

The Internet Sampler Pak will be available with QuickMail 3.5, due to ship
in August. QuickMail 3.5 will include a number of new features including
support for Apple Computer's popular drag and drop technology, stylized
text, a stand alone "on-line chat" application, Native PowerPC
server-based rules, an America OnLine gateway and other QuickMail server

better with a hard drive and running System 7.0 or later. InterCall users
must have QuickMail 2.5 or later, installed on the MailServer with at
least 8 MB of RAM. Internet connectivity also requires an Internet service
provider and a modem.
