AUTODESK ANNOUNCES AVAILABILITY DATE FOR AUTOCAD RELEASE 13 FOR WINDOWS 95

REDMOND, Wash., August 24, 1995 - - Autodesk Inc., the fourth largest PC
software company in the world and a first wave developer for Microsoft
Windows 95, announced today that AutoCAD Release 13 for Windows 95 will be
available within 90 days after Microsoft ships Windows 95. AutoCAD Release
13, the most powerful AutoCAD ever, provides an object-oriented database,
customizable Windows interface, and robust functionality.

Robert Carr, vice president of engineering at Autodesk, said, "As an
intensive graphical application, AutoCAD benefits from the technologies
provided in the new generation of Windows operating systems. AutoCAD
Release 13 for Windows 95 was designed to take full advantage of the
increased performance and inherent benefits of Windows 95 and other 32-bit
operating systems." Carr added that,"AutoCAD Release 13 for Windows 95 is
a significant milestone for Autodesk. Autodesk's customers are currently
undergoing an MS-DOS to Windows transition and, as a result, there is a
pent-up demand for the performance benefits of a 32-bit operating system.
This release will allow users to fully utilize the full power of AutoCAD
Release 13."

To aid in this operating system transition for users, AutoCAD Release 13
software's existing multiplatform license will extend to cover Windows 95,
in addition to Windows NT, Windows 3.1, and MS-DOS.Existing AutoCAD
Release 13 users will also be able to add Windows 95 to their choice of
platforms at no extra charge from Autodesk.Dealers, however, may add a
nominal charge for the upgrade. Autodesk customers can upgrade from
AutoCAD Release 12 to Release 13 for $495.

AutoCAD Release 13 software running under Windows 95 will be Windows 95
logo compliant, which includes features such as OLE, with drag and drop
capability and support for long file names. Another benefit of the 32-bit
environment is the ability to run multiple sessions of AutoCAD Release 13,
which is not possible in Windows 3.1 or MS-DOS environments. This, in
addition to a number of new technologies already delivered in AutoCAD
Release 13 software, such as the new object-oriented technology, provides
a foundation for the next generation of design products from Autodesk and
its partners.

"Design and drafting professionals need the extra power of the 32-bit,
multitasking environment that Windows 95 offers," said Brad Chase, general
manager of the personal systems division at Microsoft."Autodesk worked
closely with Microsoft to take advantage of the advanced features that
Windows 95 has to offer in AutoCAD Release 13."

The multiplatform license for AutoCAD Release 13 for personal computers is
priced at US$3,750 for CD-ROM and US$3,995 for diskettes.UNIX versions--
including Sun. SPARCstation,TM Hewlett-Packard 9000 Series 700, Silicon
Graphics, Inc. workstations, IBM RISC System/6000 platforms, and Windows
NT on Alpha Systems-- are available for US$3,750 for CD-ROM.
