Court Dismisses RSI Case Against Apple

CUPERTINO, California--August 3, 1995--Apple Computer, Inc. today announced
that after five days of trial, San Francisco Superior Court Judge James L.
Warren dismissed a repetitive stress injury (RSI) case brought against the
company by plaintiff Carolyn Brust. Brust claimed that her use of an Apple
computer keyboard and mouse caused injuries to her hand. The court ruled
that there was no scientific basis upon which to conclude that the
plaintiff's symptoms had been caused by her use of the Apple computer. The
dismissal came during presentations of the plaintiff's case and before
Apple had begun to present its defense.

"We are extremely pleased with the court's decision," said Edward Stead,
vice president and general counsel for Apple. "Six repetitive stress
injury cases have gone to trial against the computer industry in the
United States in the past two years. All six have resulted in findings
that the computer was not responsible for the injuries alleged by
plaintiffs. Apple firmly believes that our products are safe when used
properly, and we will continue to defend ourselves vigorously against
lawsuits that allege so-called repetitive stress injuries."
