Apple's eWorld Rolls Out All-New Classifieds Section and Extends Community
Into Hong Kong

Apple's On-line Service, eWorld, Brings Macintosh Community Even Closer
Together

CUPERTINO, California--August 15, 1995--Macintosh users won't have to
bother fumbling through newspapers, driving to stores or rummaging through
garage sales to find great bargains on Apple equipment. Instead, they can
simply log onto eWorld, Apple's on-line service, and check out the new
"Classifieds" section. Furthermore, they can now extend their electronic
community ties into Hong Kong, tightening the gap between them and the
people, products and events of this Asian country.

Apple Computer, Inc. today launched the new eWorld Classifieds section that
makes it simpler than ever for buyers and sellers, of just about anything,
to find each other on-line and get down to business. eWorld Classifieds
allows people to search for a desired product, not just by category, like
"Automobiles", but by key word, like "Gremlin". This search capability
allows people to be very specific about their shopping and eliminates the
time-wasting task of scrolling through the system, hunting for the goods
they want. This is one reason why eWorld Classifieds surpasses similar
offerings on other on-line services.

Additionally, eWorld Classifieds makes it easy for buyer and seller to
carry on a conversation or negotiation about a product. The service offers
electronic mail links within the Classifieds ad itself, so, by simply
pushing "reply by e-mail", potential buyers can query and haggle with the
seller. This eliminates having to locate the seller's e-mail address and
having to create a new piece of e-mail--as in other services.

eWorld Classifieds also eases the pain in the pocketbook. eWorld doesn't
charge extra for cruising the Classifieds or even posting an ad. The
Classifieds section provides people a hassle-free, step-by-step,
point-and-click process for getting ads posted. Once people take their
products to the electronic farmers' market, they can easily select "Review
My Ads" to take inventory of their posted ads, or they can access "Review
My History" to get detailed information on the status of the ad--such as,
how many people viewed or responded to an ad. Classifieds can be found in
eWorld's Marketplace building, or by using the shortcut "classifieds".

Unlike most other services, eWorld has rules against running personal ads,
ads for escort services, alcohol, tobacco or firearms. In addition, ads
for adult materials such as photographs, movies and paraphernalia of a
sexually explicit nature will not be accepted. While sellers can offer a
wide range of products in the Classifieds, eWorld has designed the new
site with the specific needs of its customers in mind. For example, eWorld
expects the electronic bazaar to be used significantly for buying, selling
and swapping Macintosh equipment.

"eWorld citizens represent some of the most enthusiastic and adventurous
Macintosh users around. We are pleased to construct the best electronic
garage sale for them to roam around in and to participate in the sale,
purchase, and bartering of goods on-line," said Perry Wu, eWorld product
manager. "We hope Classifieds further solidifies our position as the
premiere on-line destination for the Macintosh community to come
together."

The serice's roll-out today in Hong Kong marks the eighth country in which
eWorld is available. This World-wide English version of eWorld in Hong
Kong is expected to help strengthen and extend the eWorld community, and
bring Macintosh users from around the world closer together.

eWorld is a powerful, yet easy-to-use, global family of on-line services
from Apple Computer, Inc., which include eWorld for Macintosh and
NewtonMail--eWorld's messaging service for Newton personal digital
assistants. Included on most Apple Macintosh computers, the software is
also available free to all U.S. Macintosh users by calling 1-800-775-4556.
eWorld is available in the U.S., Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland,
Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong.
