Apple Rolls into Boston with New Power Macintosh Line Up, Continued
Developer Momentum and Strong Customer Acceptance

Exciting new 3D Graphics Software, Videoconferencing and Speech Solutions
Debut at MacWorld Expo Boston

BOSTON, Massachusetts--August 8, 1995--Apple Computer, Inc. today kicked
off MacWorld Boston with a flurry of innovative new products and
solutions, including powerful new Power Macintosh personal computers, that
reinforce the Macintosh platform's continued leadership position and
accelerating momentum. Additional announcements include the availability
of QuickDraw 3D, and the inclusion of QuickTime videoconferencing and
PlainTalk speech solutions with the Power Macintosh 7500 and 8500
computers.

Continuing to strengthen the Power Macintosh product line-up, Apple
launched three new powerful Power Macintosh personal computers. The new
systems, the Power Macintosh 7200, 7500 and 8500, complement the recently
announced Power Macintosh 9500, the world's most powerful personal
computer, and provide customers across all markets with easy-to-use
solutions that best meet their needs.

The Power Macintosh 7200/75, the Power Macintosh 7200/90, the Power
Macintosh 7500/100, and the Power Macintosh 8500/120, deliver advanced
performance by combining the intuitive Mac OS, the speed of the RISC-based
microprocessor--ranging from a low cost PowerPC 601 running at 75 MHz to a
powerful PowerPC 604 running at 120 MHz--and the industry standard PCI
(Peripheral Component Interconnect) bus. The new Power Macs reflect
Apple's commitment to providing professional customers with advanced
technology made easy to use and also solidify Apple's position as the
industry's price performance leader by offering these powerful systems at
extremely aggressive prices--starting at around U.S. $1,699.

"Power Macintosh shipments have now topped the 2 million mark, a milestone
that celebrates the tremendous customer acceptance in the year-and-a half
since introduction,"said Michael Spindler, Apple President and CEO. "We
enter the Fall season with a strong line-up of new products. Furthermore,
the rapid adoption of the Power Macintosh platform by the developer
community has resulted in over 850 PowerPC-optimized software applications
available on the market today."

In tandem with today's announcements rounding out the new Power Macintosh
line, Apple welcomed yet another wave of PCI (Peripheral Component
Interconnect) solutions from its hardware developers, reaffirming Apple's
continuing commitment to adopt industry standards like PCI into its
product line and bring customers the most powerful, easy- to-use and
diverse range of solutions possible.

Customers now have more options available than ever before to customize
their systems to the specific needs of their professions. With the new
family of Power Macs, the self-employed business professional as well as a
large publishing company can take advantage of the variety of new
solutions available as a result of the PCI expansion bus. From
videoconferencing and media authoring solutions to publishing, data
acquisition and high-speed networking, the PCI bus, together with more
than 850 native software applications, brings it all to the Power
Macintosh at more affordable prices than ever. To date, more than 70
developers have announced PCI products for the new Power Macintosh
systems.
