New Apple Multimedia Program (AMP) World Wide Web Site Now Available

Developers Gain Internet Access to Multimedia Resources

BOSTON, Massachusetts--August 8, 1995--Apple Computer, Inc. today announced
the Apple Multimedia Program (AMP) World Wide Web site
(http://www.amp.apple.com), an extensive on-line resource that provides
multimedia developers with a one-stop source for information about Apple,
its multimedia offerings and its multimedia developer community.
Additionally, the company announced plans to distribute key sections of
the new Apple Multimedia Program Developer Showcase CD on this new World
Wide Web site.

"The new Apple Multimedia Program World Wide Web site is an example of our
continuing commitment to provide developers with all the tools and
information they need to create the most exciting multimedia content
possible," said Albert Chu, Apple's director of Worldwide New Media
Marketing Programs in the Entertainment Industry and New Media Division.

Resources on the AMP World Wide Web site for current and prospective
members are available through a range of resources accessible in four main
areas:

-- Multimedia for You from Apple--a collection of links to multimedia
resources throughout the Internet. This includes multimedia product and
program information within Apple, as well as links to external multimedia
information sources and companies.

-- Get with the Program--provides complete AMP program information to those
developers considering joining the program. Summaries and tables of
contents are provided for all the market reports, technical documents,
videos and discounts provided with the program.

-- What's New--provides the latest in program news and announcements.

-- AMP Member Showcase--a searchable database of AMP program members who
participated in the CD-ROM-based showcase. The database provides contact
information, areas of expertise, market focus and pictures of sample
work. The showcase is geared to serving the informational needs of
companies needing multimedia services.

Apple Multimedia Program Developer Showcase CD Content On-Line

In order to provide a resource to individuals and organizations who are
planning to or currently contributing to the emergence of New Media, the
Apple Multimedia Program created the Developer Showcase CD. This CD is a
compilation of content from AMP members to serve users' informational
needs for multimedia services as well as give an idea of what's possible
with multimedia on the Apple Macintosh computer. Much of the content on
the Developer Showcase CD is now available on the AMP World Wide Web
site.

"This CD is an excellent way to showcase our members' work," said Steve
Franzese, Apple's director of Business Development in the Entertainment
Industry and New Media Division. "Now, by distributing this content on the
AMP World Wide Web site, developers worldwide can see what the Macintosh
can offer in the way of multimedia, as well as Apple's leadership in the
emergence of New Media."

The Apple Multimedia Program, introduced in 1993, provides marketing and
technical information to its more than 2,000 current members worldwide in
the growing areas of multimedia authoring and playback. AMP members

Additional World Wide Web Sites

In addition to this new World Wide Web site, Apple's main home page on the
World Wide Web is: http://www.apple.com. The company also has several
other World Wide Web sites of interest to developers, including the
recently announced QuickTime On-Line (http://quicktime.apple.com) and the
QuickTime VR site (http://qtvr.quicktime.apple.com).

QuickTime On-Line makes it possible for consumers to download and view
QuickTime software-based music videos, interviews with musicians,
animations and even games. QuickTime is Apple's cross-platform multimedia
software that makes it possible for users to view and edit video, music,
text, animations and other information on their computers. The QuickTime
VR site features extensive information on QuickTime VR, plus some of the
most compelling QuickTime VR scenes--such as the White House--available
anywhere on the World Wide Web. QuickTime VR is Apple's virtual reality
software that can be used on even entry-level computers--without gloves,
goggles or special equipment. Both the QuickTime Online and QuickTime VR
sites feature scenes from the Apple-sponsored Macintosh New York Music
Festival, held July 17-22 in New York.
