eWorld Strengthens Home and Education Solution; Internet Offerings Hit the
Ground Running

Cybersites for Kids and Women to Showcase Macworld Activities

Macworld Exposition, BOSTON, Massachusetts--August 7, 1995--Apple Computer,
Inc. today announced that eWorld, their on-line service has strengthened
its position in Apple's key markets by adding new publishers, content, and
services especially chosen for eWorld's home, family computing, and
education customers. The year-old service also reports positive subscriber
response to its new set of branded "eWorld on the Web" sites, along with
its recently delivered Internet and World Wide Web (WWW) access. At the
mid- summer Macintosh computer trade-show--Macworld Expo Boston--eWorld
will showcase these and other developments as well as offer show attendees
an abundance of on-line and "off-line" activities.

The most recent publishers to join eWorld reinforce the service's ongoing
strategy to carefully choose information that's relevant for customers in
Apple's target markets. For example, eWorld announced that Women On-line
Worldwide (a friendly female meeting place), Premier Dining (savings at
over 9,500 restaurants), Playbill On-line (theater news and views), EXTRA
(entertainment from Warner Brothers) and The Urban Connection On-line
(interactive radio) have joined eWorld as publishers--further
strengthening eWorld's robust home entertainment offerings. In the
education sphere, eWorld announced today the addition of EarthWatch
On-line (environmental information), Bytes of Learning (educational
software) and The Learning Source (technology learning), as publishers on
the service.

Additionally, more than 25 computer vendors have joined eWorld's "Straight
To The Source" area in the last two months, further solidifying eWorld's
position as the premier source for Macintosh information on-line.

These content providers join a growing suite of learning and home computing
activities both on the eWorld "Town Square", as well as on eWorld's
internet-based destination, "eWorld on the Web". Today, "Web City" (for
the consumer market) and "Learning Community" (for the education market)
comprise "eWorld on the Web". Recently, "eWorld on the Web" was rated
among the top 5% of all sites on the Internet, by Point Survey--a leading
on-line provider of site ratings and reviews on the WWW.

eWorld also reported today strong usage of the service's new "free area"
which allows users to download the new version of the service and its
World Wide Web browser application at no charge. The new Internet On-Ramp,
the forum where users go to enter the Internet or obtain "how-to"
information about it, has proven very popular, as it had over 90,000 hits
last month (eWorld has more than 100,000 subscribers).

At Macworld, eWorld employees and approximately 40 of the service's
publishers plan to show the aforementioned Internet capabilities and new
content to exposition visitors who can get hands-on experience with
eWorld. eWorld is located in the large Apple area--Hall B at the Bayside
Exposition Center. Users can stroll through the eWorld Town Square or surf
the Internet, by accessing the eWorld kiosks placed throughout Boston's
World Trade Center.

Computer enthusiasts who can't make it to Boston for the expo, can still
get unedited reports about the latest, worst and greatest Macworld
showings, as respected members of the computer press will join eWorld for
exclusive, live conferences directly from the trade-show floor. The
conferences are sponsored by the Software Center from ZiffNet/Mac forum
and can be accessed with the shortcut "zmac cafe". The latest information
on the conferences can be found in ZMac Events Calendar, with the shortcut
"ziff"-- all in eWorld.

Here's a list of Macworld activities that will be held on eWorld:
