ANDYNE COMPUTING ANNOUNCES INTEGRATED SOLUTION

Users will access relational data, multi-D data, and structured text via
single interface

KINGSTON, Ontario, August 21, 1995 -- Andyne Computing Limited (NASDAQ:
"ADYNF", TSE: "ADY") today announced a new and unique product development
effort in Decision Support System (DSS) software -- the Andyne Integrated
Solution.

The Andyne Integrated Solution will combine the power of three Andyne
products: Andyne GQL, a DSS application for relational data sources;
Andyne PaBLO, a DSS tool for multidimensional data sources; and, a product
being developed, code named Rosetta, which will be a DSS application for
structured-text sources.

"Andyne intends to offer the industry's broadest access to corporate
information at the desktop," said A. Cameron Thompson, Andyne's president
and chief executive officer. "Such information may reside in relational
databases, multidimensional databases, or structured text databases. Our
strategy is to uniquely integrate all three information sources into one
single view on the desktop."

The Andyne Integrated Solution will provide users with a visual interface
for accessing company information. Users simply will point and click to
access the business information they need and combine results from the
various sources into one view to enable integrated analysis and reporting.
The Andyne Integrated Solution's individual products -- GQL, PaBLO and
Rosetta -- also may be purchased and used separately.

PaBLO makes it easy for non-technical users to navigate summarized,
multidimensional information in a data warehouse, enabling decision makers
to uncover complex trends without having to learn a complex data-access
language. And, by "drilling" through summarized information to the
transactional data that is GQL's forte, business users can explore the
processes driving corporate results. The ability of The Andyne Integrated
Solution to combine information from structured-text sources via Rosetta
will make Andyne's product offering unique in the information access
marketplace.

Rosetta is the result of a technology acquisition by Andyne. Last December,
the Company announced it had completed its acquisition of a Standard
Generalized Markup Language ("SGML") technology for storage and retrieval
of structured text documents.

SGML is a data-description language designed for, but not limited to,
describing the structure of textual data, so that organizations may
exchange documents easily, manipulate and search them, put them to
different uses with shared data or simply revise and reissue them with
less effort.

It is estimated that documents now represent approximately 70 to 90 percent
of the information resources of a typical enterprise. However, unlike the
10 to 30 percent of numerical information managed in relational databases,
documents and the information contained within them have not benefitted
significantly from advances made in database technologies.

"SGML technology is one of the most important advances in making text more
useful; it brings database capabilities to raw-text collection and
manipulation," added Thompson. "We continue to be excited about this
technology, because we believe the SGML technology strategically
complements Andyne's existing product offerings -- GQL and PaBLO software
products for accessing, reporting and managing data -- and positions the
Company to broaden the range of solutions Andyne can offer for information
access throughout an enterprise," Thompson said.

Andyne is a leader in the development and marketing of Decision Support
System (DSS) software for the Managed Query Environment (MQE) -- the
Andyne Integrated Solution -- with more than 55,000 installations
worldwide. The Andyne Integrated Solution brings together the important
sources of business information -- relational databases, multidimensional
databases, and structured text repositories -- in one view, to enable
integrated analysis and reporting. The Andyne Integrated Solution consists
of three products: Andyne GQL, an ad hoc query and reporting tool for
relational data sources; Andyne PaBLO, an OLAP (online analytic
processing) client tool for multidimensional data sources; and Rosetta,
the code name for an SGML-based product now in development that stores and
retrieves structured text documents and is scheduled for release in 1996.
The Andyne Integrated Solution, combining GQL, PaBLO and Rosetta
technologies, will create the first Decision Support software suite
capable of accessing and anal yzing information from relational databases,
multidimensional databases and structured text repositories, in a single
view.
