COMERICA BANK GOES LIVE WITH AMS TRADELINE/CLIENT SERVER

Platform Supports International Trade

August 15, 1995 -- Fairfax, VA -- American Management Systems (AMS) today
announced the implementation of its TradeLine/Client Server trade services
platform at Comerica Bank, one of the top ten trade finance banks to
middle market companies in the United States.

Comerica is using the system to process all letters of credit and
international collections. These complicated instruments, which are the
underlying source for much of today's world trade and an important source
of fees for banks, can be difficult and time consuming to process.

"Besides speeding processing time and improving productivity, AMS
TradeLine/Client Server helps us maximize return from previous technology
investments" says Bruce Valentine, Comerica first vice president. "We were
able to migrate interfaces and other local customizations completely
intact when we moved from the mainframe platform to the client/server
platform."

"We migrated our mainframe trade services application to a client/server
environment to meet the competitive needs of forward-thinking banks like
Comerica," says AMS vice president Kurt Cavano. "The scalable nature of
the system gives Comerica greater flexibility to meet the demands of their
international customers. As business expands and needs change, Comerica
can simply add more servers and PCs."

Comerica's system, a fully distributed client/server application, runs on a
Novell LAN, located in Detroit with remote access from sites in Illinois,
Texas and California. The application was developed using COMPAQ SMP
(Symmetrical Multi-Processing) processors running OS/2 for SMP and DB2/2
for SMP, which was released in September 1994. Comerica's system was live
two weeks after the release of DB2/2 for SMP.

"Since we were operating in a beta-test environment for the system
software, we faced significant technical challenges. This was one of the
first major implementations of transaction processing using this system
software," says Cavano. AMS's TradeLine systems are also installed at 25
leading banks worldwide, including Bank of Montreal and Barclays Bank.

With assets of $33 billion, Detroit-based Comerica Incorporated is one of
the 30 largest bank holding companies in the United States. It is among
the top 12 business lenders in the nation.

Comerica is currently partnering with AMS to develop Comerica Gateway, a
treasury management tool for corporate customers, using Windows-based
software and graphical user interfaces.

AMS's business is to partner with clients to achieve breakthrough
performance through the intelligent use of information technology. AMS is
a business and information technology consulting firm that provides a full
