Adobe Systems Ships PageMaker 6.0 For Macintosh and Power Macintosh

New Version Includes Major Enhancements for Professional Publishing

Seattle, Wash. (August 22, 1995) (Nasdaq:ADBE) -- Adobe Systems
Incorporated today announced the availability of Adobe PageMaker 6.0 for
the Apple Macintosh and Power Macintosh, a major upgrade that adds more
than 50 new and enhanced features to the world's leading professional page
composition software. Adobe PageMaker 6.0 represents the first major
upgrade to the program since the merger between Adobe Systems and Aldus
Corporation in 1994, and also commemorates the tenth anniversary of the
original Aldus PageMaker 1.0, which shipped in 1985. The product is
available immediately from Adobe Authorized Resellers at a suggested
retail price of $895.

Adobe PageMaker 6.0 software offers a range of powerful new features
emphasizing versatile color publishing, flexible page design, expert
printing and prepress controls, extensibility via plug-ins, and enhanced
compatibility and integration with other Adobe products as part of the
Adobe publishing solution. In addition, PageMaker 6.0 features new
technology for creating publications in Adobe's Portable Document Format
(PDF) and authoring Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) documents for
electronic publishing on the World Wide Web. PageMaker 6.0 comes with a
Deluxe CD-ROM that contains thousands of dollars' worth of free software,
including the Acrobat Distiller, Acrobat Reader and Adobe Type On Call
4.0, which contains 220 free fonts that can be unlocked upon registration
of the Type On Call CD.

master pages, integrated trapping and support for Hexachrome colors," said

Price and Availability

Adobe PageMaker 6.0 for the Macintosh and Power Macintosh is available at
Adobe Authorized Resellers for a suggested retail price of $895 (U.S.).
Registered users of any version of PageMaker for the Macintosh can upgrade
to version 6.0 for $149. Customers who purchased PageMaker 5.0 after June
17, 1995 in the United States or Canada are eligible to receive a free
upgrade to version 6.0. Adobe PageMaker 6.0 for Microsoft Windows 95 is
expected to ship in the fall of 1995. For more information, customers in

System Requirements

Minimum requirements for the Power Macintosh include 16 MB of RAM (12 MB of
application RAM*), Apple System Software 7.1.2 or later, 20 MB of free
hard drive space for installation, and a 9-inch (PowerBook ) or 12-inch or
larger monitor (640 x 480 pixels). Minimum requirements for the 68K
Macintosh include a 68030 or greater processor, Apple System Software 7.1
or later, 16 MB of RAM (10 MB of application RAM*), 20 MB of free hard
drive space for installation, and a 9-inch (PowerBook) or 12-inch or
larger monitor (640 x 480 pixels).

* Suggested partition size is set to 8000K (Power Macintosh 10,000K) for
the PageMaker application.
