StarNine to market First Virtual electronic commerce bridge for WebSTAR
(formerly MacHTTP)

Names FV Bridge author Louis Slothouber, PhD, as Computer Scientist; will
spearhead company's engineering effort in electronic commerce

Internet World-San Jose, CA, 4/10/95 - StarNine Technologies, Inc.
announced that it will market a gateway to the First Virtual Internet
Payment System for WebSTAR, its World Wide Web server (formerly MacHTTP).
In addition, the company announced that Louis Slothouber, PhD, will join
StarNine as Computer Scientist and will oversee the development of the
First Virtual Bridge product as well as other research and development
projects.

Beginning in May, the First Virtual Bridge will be marketed as the Commerce
Toolkit for WebSTAR. The Commerce Toolkit will support online transaction
processing via the First Virtual Internet Payment System. The First
Virtual payment system requires no additional hardware or software to
implement. Internet customers simply connect to the WebSTAR server, fill
in an on-line order form, and funds are then transferred automatically
from the customers' First Virtual account into the merchant's. Goods are
subsequently exchanged either electronically or through traditional
channels. The system does not require buyers to pass credit card
information over the wire and protects them from fraud by verifying all
transactions with the buyer via e-mail.

"Dr. Slothouber is a pioneer in the burgeoning technology arena of
electronic commerce and smart agents" said Rusty Rahm, president of
StarNine. "We're extremely pleased that he is bringing his considerable
expertise to StarNine as we market the fruits of his research as the
Commerce Toolkit for WebSTAR. Louis's specialization in both the
theoretical and pragmatic issues of electronic commerce will greatly
enhance our ability to market state-of-the-art products in this rapidly
evolving market. His academic background in Artificial Intelligence should
also bolster future development efforts by StarNine in developing smarter
softeware to make the resources of the Internet more accessible to
users."

The Commerce Toolkit for WebSTAR will ship in May. Pricing will be
announced by the end of April.
