UB NETWORKS' ATM SWITCH INTEROPERABLE WITH MAJOR VENDORS' ATM ADAPTERS AND
SWITCHES

UB NETWORKS' GEOSWITCH IS PRICE LEADER OFFERING FULL FUNCTIONALITY AT
ONE-THIRD THE COST

Santa Clara, California -- March 9, 1995 -- UB Networks today announced
results of GeoSwitch 155 interoperability testing at the University of New
Hampshire Interoperability ATM test labs. UB Networks' GeoSwitch 155
demonstrated interoperability with ATM adapters from companies including
Sun Microsystems Computer Company and Interphase Corporation, and ATM
switches from Digital Equipment Corporation and others.

"This is another step in UB Networks' plan to mainstream ATM by providing a
fully standards compliant ATM switch that will interoperate with other
vendors' equipment allowing customers to incrementally add ATM to their
networks," said Tyrone Pike , senior vice president and general manager of
the Network Product Division. "The results of this test along with our
previously demonstrated LAN-to-WAN interoperability with Cisco's
LightStream 2020 demonstrates our commitment to standards and
interoperability."

The GeoSwitch 155 product is the industry's first affordable ATM switch for
high-performance workgroups and campus backbones, priced at $995 per port
for multimode fiber. Fully compliant with ATM Forum standards, the
GeoSwitch 155 product is the first in a modular family of highly flexible,
scaleable ATM products. It offers 5 Gigabit/sec full duplex ATM throughput
and provides customers with a "pay as you go" approach to implementing ATM
technology. In the UNH test, interoperability was demonstrated for
signalling, classical IP, and P-NNI Phase 0, which are all the most
advanced standards specified by the ATM Forum and IETF. Previous vendor
interoperability demonstrations have been limited to older ATM standards
that tested functionality using Permanent Virtual Circuits (PVCs).
