UB NETWORKS DELIVERS NETWORKING PRODUCTS FOR INTERACTIVE COMMERCE

TURNKEY SYSTEMS PROVIDE FULL-FEATURED WEB PRESENCE AND INTERACTIVE 3-D
VIRTUAL REALITY ENVIRONMENT FOR COMMERCIAL NETWORKS

Networld + Interop, Las Vegas -- March 28, 1995 -- UB Networks today
announced-InterWeb and InterWorld VR, two exciting new products that
enable corporations to develop and deploy interactive 3-D multi-user
commercial applications over the Internet and high-bandwidth private data
networks.

"There are two megatrends at work today," said Roel Pieper, UB Networks'
chief executive officer, "first is the pervasive use of high-bandwidth
networks and internetworking technologies; and second is the development
of innovative, content rich, graphics-oriented applications for ever more
powerful desktop systems. UB Networks is uniquely positioned to harness
the confluence of these two market forces."

UB Networks is both a pioneer and a leading provider of LAN equipment and
management tools. With an extensive network of business partnerships and
alliances, UB Networks creates tailored, enterprise network solutions that
seamlessly blend LANs and WANs. In addition, UB Networks has been an early
and innovative user of internetworking and Internet technologies, thus the
company has an intimate understanding of virtually all aspects of both
high bandwidth networking and internetworking.

With extensive expertise in the area of the first megatrend -- networking
-- UB Networks has now successfully integrated the second -- interactive,
feature-rich, network application interfaces. When this unique and
compelling user interface is deployed in a networked environment the stage
is set for broad acceptance of interactive commerce.

With the InterWeb and InterWorld VR products, customers can implement
flexible, feature-rich, interactive 3-D, multi-user environments over the
Internet World Wide Web (WWW) as well as over private high-bandwidth data
networks.

The InterWeb product line provides the industry's first, and only
comprehensive, end-to-end solution for the development and deployment of
Internet business applications. This extensive product family includes all
the hardware, software and support services a corporation needs to conduct
business from a secure, scaleable Web (WWW) site. Web sites built with the
InterWeb system can offer customized and highly complex interactive
applications, such as database access and cataloguing, without taxing the
corporation's in-house MIS resources.

"MIS departments that have, up until now, been responsible for the networks
that support internal communications, are being asked to build the
entirely new networking infrastructures needed to reach directly to the
customers. UB Networks has a long history of close partnership with the
MIS department and knows how to bring together all the players needed to
build scalable, customized networking infrastructures. These new products
are a logical extension of our traditional role in the market," said Tim
Wild, vice president of the newly formed Interactive Initiatives business
unit at UB.

InterWorld VR is a compelling virtual reality environment which supports
3-D interactive multi-user capabilities. This interface allows
corporations to interact directly with customers using customized virtual
worlds that prospects can log onto for simulated "hands-on" product
demonstrations, training, and specialized support programs.

"One of UB's first InterWorld VR customers is an international travel
service," said Wild. "Among other things, this corporation will use our
product to lead prospects on virtual tours of actual resort properties. In
an early application, prospects access a server using a PC and standard
phone line or video kiosk. A 3-D animated icon operated in real-time by a
real-life property agent can meet and guide prospects through a selection
of resorts. The server will also offer additional services including a 3-D
virtual meeting place where members, represented as 3-D icons, can
interact with others."

Investments and Business Development

UB Networks also announced an equity investment in Knowledge Adventure
Worlds (KAW), a spin-off of game company Knowledge Adventure Inc. which is
focused on developing 3-D virtual reality software and environments. In
collaboration with KAW and other partners, UB Networks is building
interactive 3-D software capabilities into a series of networking projects
that leverage UB Networks' strength in telco and medical markets. First
results of this collaboration will be demonstrated later this Spring.

"With these products and services, UB Networks is at the forefront of what
promises to be a new paradigm in business-consumer communication. We can
now provide all the technology and expertise needed to help corporations
create the technology infrastructure -- a true infostructure -- needed to
reach directly to their customer." stated Pieper.

UB Networks in a leading, global supplier of network hardware, software,
and support products and is a pioneer in the area of distributed network
management solutions. As part of its Access/Anywhere strategy the company
offers a full line of enterprise-wide networking products. The company
also provides a range of integration services, including consulting,
training and technical support. UB Networks is ISO 9001 certified and
employs 1100 people in over 50 locations around the world. Headquartered
in Santa Clara, California, UB Networks is a wholly owned and
independently operated subsidiary of Tandem Computers (NYSE: TDM).
