OPTIKA NAMED TOP PROVIDER OF IMAGING AND WORKFLOW TO HEALTH CARE INDUSTRY

IDC/Avante Study Cites Optika as Leader

SAN FRANCISCO, CA., April 10, 1995--Optika Imaging Systems, a global leader
in high-performance, client/server document imaging, workflow systems and
development tools, announced today that according to IDC/Avante, it is the
leading provider of document imaging and workflow solutions to the health
care marketplace.

A recent IDC study titled The Market for Imaging and Workflow in the Health
Care Provider Industry, indicates that Optika has the largest number of
customers for document imaging and workflow systems within the health care
arena. The study attributes Optika's success in health care to its
recently-formed MediPower Group, a strategic unit within Optika dedicated
to meeting the needs of the health care market.

"There are a number of factors contributing to vendor success within the
industry," stated Scott McCready, principal analyst with Framingham, Mass.
based IDC and director of the study. "The primary key to success, however,
is having a dedicated group with health care expertise selling into the
market."

Optika's MediPower Group was formed to broaden Optika's FilePower family of
document, workflow and information management solutions to include
capabilities specifically designed for medical records and patient
accounting.

"We have been able to take our full-suite of production imaging, COLD and
workflow products and apply them in a very focused manner," commented Dick
Holzman, vice president of Optika's MediPower Group. "Our focused approach
has enabled us to secure many major health care wins. We now have 44
installations at health care facilities around the nation -- more than any
other document imaging vendor."

Success Mirrors Industry Outlook

Holzman added that Optika and its MediPower Group are predicting continued
market growth in the health care arena. IDC's study confirms this. IDC now
forecasts strong industry growth of imaging and workflow in health care
and has accelerated its projections from two years ago. IDC now expects
1998 revenues to reach $155 million, up from an estimated $62.6 million in
1994, representing a 25 percent cumulative annual growth rate.

"As a company we are dedicated to providing solutions to business
problems," explained Mark Ruport, Optika's president and CEO. "Our focus
allows us to leverage the power and performance of our standard product
offerings, meeting the specific requirements of this market. We are
pleased to see our vertical focus pay off in the health care market."

Ruport added that Optika's portion of success in this market comes from the
company's ability to meet the enterprise-wide requirements of today's
changing health care environment. The ability to integrate with legacy
systems and meet departmental requirements at all levels helps make Optika
unique. Optika systems have been successfully installed for many
application solutions including: Medical Records, Patient Accounting
(Billing and Receivables), Patient Services, Accounts Payable, Funds and
Grants, Internal Audit, Managed Care and Human Resources," said Ruport.

"Through quality products, our industry focus and the best channel program
in the imaging industry, Optika is well-positioned to continue to lead
this segment of the market," he continued.
