GOVERNMENT, BIG THREE MAKING ISO/QS 9000 CRITICAL FOR SURVIVAL

The push for quality in the United States is accelerating to an all-time
high since two of the most influential forces driving the American economy
are in the process of mandating ISO 9000 registration for their supply
bases.

The U.S. Federal Government and the Big Three automakers -- the twin
engines of U.S. economy -- are putting pressure on their suppliers to
implement ISO 9000/QS 9000 quality systems and to seek registration
status.

Tier-one suppliers to Chrysler and General Motors must be registered to QS
9000 by 1997. And officials from the Department of Defense have announced
plans to cancel several key military standards in lieu of ISO 9000.

With the recent passing of NAFTA, GATT and APEC by Congress, the push for
one universally-accepted quality system standard is stronger than ever in
the U.S. business community.

In many major industries, ISO/QS 9000 is no longer an option, but a
necessity for competitive survival.
