IBM Reduces Prices of Top ThinkPad Models; "Best Product" Award Winner
Widely Available

SOMERS, N.Y., April 12 . . . IBM today reduced prices by up to 14 percent
on selected models of ThinkPad notebook computers.

The price cuts cover four models in the premium 755 series, including the
755C and 755CD, a CD-ROM unit with advanced video, telephony and infrared
capabilities that remain unmatched by competitors.

"The award-winning 755C is now widely available at a price that makes it
hard to resist," said Scott Bower, director of mobile computing brands.
"The 755 series contains some of the most advanced technology in our
industry, and now we've made them more affordable than ever. For instance,
the 755C is equipped with a 10.4-inch active matrix screen and starts
around $3,099."

The ThinkPad 755C was recently named "Best Hardware Product of 1995" in the
May issue of Windows Magazine. The 755C also took top honors in a recent
poll of InfoWorld readers who named it 1994's "Hardware Product of the
Year" in the publication's March 20 issue.

All ThinkPad notebooks come with the patented TrackPoint integrated
pointing device, the mouse-replacer that has spawned a host of imitators;
as well as a variety of pre-loaded software programs. The ThinkPad line
has received more than 130 awards since it was launched in late 1992.

The selected ThinkPad products are available in 12 configurations, offering
users a choice of screen styles, hard drive sizes and processor types.

All prices are IBM's PC Direct catalog price. Products are available
through PC Direct or from local authorized resellers. Reseller prices and
availability may vary.
