HP ADDS NEW 120MHZ PENTIUM PROCESSOR MODELS TO VECTRA VL PC LINE

Palo Alto, California. March 27, 1995 -- Hewlett-Packard Company today
announced the addition of three PC models based on the new 120MHz Pentium
processor to its HP Vectra VL Series 3 PC line. With entry-level pricing
of $2,500 (U.S.), the new Vectra VL PCs deliver the highest-level
processor performance at industry-leading price points.

"From our entry-level PCs to our dual-processing, power desktops, HP is
leading the evolution to PCs based on the Pentium processor," said Jacques
C. Clay, general manager of HP's Grenoble Personal Computer Division. "The
new 120MHz models simply enhance the industry's most complete family of
high-performance, affordable PCs."

Optimized for Corporate Users

Today's announcement follows HP's introduction earlier this month of the
industry's first low-cost Pentium processor-based PC lines, the HP Vectra
VE and Vectra VL Series 3 PCs. The Vectra VE and Vectra VL PCs, which come
in more than a dozen models and with every type of Pentium processor,
combine affordability and reliability with maximum performance.

HP is a leader in network-ready PCs for the corporate user. Several HP
Vectra PC models are offered with built-in Ethernet on the motherboard,
preloaded networking software and extensive multivendor hardware- and
software-compatibility testing. In addition, all HP Vectra PCs include
Desktop Management Interface (DMI) software preloaded in an easy-to-use,
Windows-based format, as well as HP User Tool and Borland's Dashboard
software, the fastest way to work in Windows.

Configurations

The Vectra VL 5/120 PC comes with 8MB RAM or 16MB RAM (upgradeable to
192MB); 256KB second-level cache; a complete set of subsystems linked to
the peripheral component interconnect (PCI) bus; dual-channel,
Enhanced-IDE controllers; and PCI expansion slots for adding
fast-performance boards.

The video subsystem features an integrated 64-bit graphics controller and
support for up to 2MB video DRAM. This provides exceptionally fast
graphics performance for advanced office applications and resolutions of
up to 1,280 x 1,024 and up to 16.7 million colors.

The addition of the 120MHz Pentium processor to these HP Vectra PCs can
improve system performance up to 15 percent over 100MHz systems in
CPU-intensive applications.

Availability

Resellers currently are taking orders for the HP Vectra VL 5/120 PC, which
is expected to begin shipping in July. All HP Vectra PCs are covered by a
three-year, limited warranty with one-year, on-site coverage.

HP Vectra PCs have been widely recognized for outstanding performance,
reliability and innovative system design. In J.D. Power and Associates'
1994 Desktop Personal Computer Customer Satisfaction Study, HP Vectra PCs
had the highest overall customer-satisfaction ranking among business end
users, surpassing all other major brands. HP also was awarded the Computer
Reseller News Channel Partner Award and the Environmental Protection
Agency 1994 Outstanding Partner Award.
