U.S. Customs Intercepts Infringing Network Connectors

ALAMEDA, Calif., April 3, 1995 -- Farallon Computing, Inc., a leading
provider of innovative networking software and hardware, today announced
that the United States Customs Service in-San Francisco detained and
denied entry into the U.S. 4,000 network connectors which infringe a
Farallon patent covering its PhoneNET connector technology.

The International Trade Commission (ITC), in November 1994, issued a
general exclusion order banning the importation of network connectors
covered by Farallon's patent. By law, the U.S. Customs Service enforces
ITC orders, and the U.S. Customs San Francisco district of fice became the
first in the country to exclude infringing goods from entry into the
United States under the order.

Alan Lefkof, president and CEO of Farallon, commented, "We're very serious
about protecting our intellectual property rights. From the day the order
was issued, we said Farallon would be working closely with U.S. Customs to
identify and halt the importation of infringing connectors. We have and
will continue to do so."

PhoneNET is the leading Macintosh connector on the market today, with over
5 million network connectors in use worldwide. While many such connectors
are sold by third parties under a license from Farallon, several overseas
manufacturers are attempting to sell unlicensed connectors in the United
States, in violation of Farallon's patent rights. Most of the infringing
connectors are being manufactured in Taiwan, Republic of China.

Founded in 1986, Farallon Computing, Inc. is a leading supplier of a family
of innovative, plug-and-play networking products for personal computers.
Farallon products are available through distributors and resellers
worldwide, as well as through OEM (original equipment manufacturer) and
licensing relationships with other computer vendors. Headquartered in
Alameda, Calif., Farallon has offices located throughout the world.
