Dolch and Northrop Announce Sales Alliance

Image Processing and Communication in a Power Portable

Fremont, CA, April 24, 1995--Dolch Computer Systems has been selected by
Northrop Grumman Corporation to provide the PAC (Portable Add-in Computer)
portable platform for the company' s NORTHROP View image capture and
communication application. NORTHROP View, specifically designed for the
military and intelligence communities, is an integrated,
commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) application providing data capture,
digitization and compression, and communication of high-resolution images
and text. Northrop chose the Dolch PAC for mobile use of the application
because of its massive expansion capability, its ruggedized packaging, and
most notably, for its superior flat-panel video performance.

PAC not only provided the expansion capability and ruggedness NORTHROP View
demanded, it was the only portable we found with video capability that
matched high-performance desktop CRTs," according to Douglas Burger,
Manager of Product Development at Northrop.

PAC Power Portables

The PAC line of portables features the industry's broadest choice of
configurations; 486 and Pentium processors, two to seven open slots, and a
selection of 16, 32, or 64-bit bus architecture (ISA, EISA, VESA, and
PCI). With capacity for three drives, the user can add a CD-ROM, a backup
tape, or a separate removable hard drive. And since 1987, Dolch has been
offering the most advanced flat-panel displays in the world, starting with
the first color TFT on a portable. The latest Dolch breakthrough is a
portable that is capable of using virtually any video controller, freeing
the user from the limitations of the special controllers normally required
for flat-panels. The use of high-performance video controllers not only
provides for the highest video ratings (115 WinMarks) on a portable, it
also allows for the integration of MPEG and JPEG compression boards for
high-end video applications such as NORTHROP View.

The superior performance of a PAC flat-panel display opens up a whole new
world of video and imaging applications for those who require mobile
computing systems," according to Volker Dolch, President of Dolch Computer
Systems.

NORTHROP View

NORTHROP View is a low cost Microsoft Windows compatible application that
integrates government standards into commercial architectures to meet
organizational information product requirements. It is capable of
displaying, manipulating, communicating, and printing high-resolution
color, multi-spectral and black and white imagery, and text reports.
Designed for military and intelligence applications, NORTHROP View can be
found in a broad range of fields from law enforcement to search and rescue
missions. The application meets the National Imagery Transmission Format
Standard (NITFS), and integrates Tactical Communication 2 protocol,
ensuring interoperability with other federal and commercial systems.
