First Ever Teleconferencing Portable

All the Capability of a "Rollabout" in a Ruggedized Mobile Platform

Fremont, CA; March 21, 1995--Today, Dolch Computer Systems announced a new
model in the company's line of award winning PAC (Portable Add-in
Computer) power portables--TelePAC, the world' s first portable video
teleconferencing platform. Designed for system integrators and high-end
business users, the TelePAC comes complete with a video camera, and all
the necessary expansion capability for integrating the highest performance
teleconferencing CODECs and ISDN modems. A complete teleconferencing
system integrated on the TelePAC platform provides a lightweight, compact
alternative to the industry' s best rollabout systems. Now for the first
time, mobile video teleconferencing becomes a reality.

The TelePAC Video Conferencing Platform

The TelePAC platform is a specialized version of Dolch's venerated PAC
series, incorporating a video camera and all the expansion capability
required for a truly mobile video conferencing system. Since 1987, PAC has
been the leading choice for sophisticated engineers and industrial users
who require all the performance and expandability of a desktop system in a
ruggedized portable computer. Dolch was the first to offer a 386, a 486,
and a Pentium in a portable, and has consistently been honored by the
industry media for performance and expansion capability. PAC portables
feature ISA, EISA, VESA, and PCI slots and 275 watts of system power in a
highly evolved ruggedized chassis. Because of its desktop like
characteristics, the PAC has also become the mobile platform of choice for
high-end multimedia systems. It was only natural that the market seek out
the PAC for mobile video teleconferencing. In fact, when Intel Corporation
evaluated mobile platforms to launch the company's ProShare video
teleconferencing application, they chose PAC for its expandability,
ruggedness, and high-performance color display. The PAC provides ample
room for the Indeo video board, and the ISDN and network interfaces
required. And Dolch's recently announced flat-panel video interface
technology provided for the highest video performance ever achieved on a
portable--16.7 million colors, and a rating of over 100 WinMarks. "It is
important to note that the launching of ProShare is a signal event for
Intel. They chose the PAC as the demonstration platform because it was the
most attractive and powerful portable available anywhere in the world
today," according to Dick Davison, Vice President of Sales for Dolch.

Nomadic Video Teleconferencing

Fueled by improved technology and falling prices, the video
teleconferencing market has grown to an estimated $660 million and is
expected by industry analysts to climb over $10 billion by 1997. Dozens of
companies are currently working to bring solutions to this volatile
marketplace. As a matter of note, the ProShare launch by Intel --a major
player in anyone's estimate--easily confirms the expectations for this
business. It is easy to foresee a future where video conferencing will
become a basic part of "nomadic computing" for all top level business
executives. Mobile teleconferencing with its requirements for plug-in
CODECs and highspeed ISDN modems will not be accomplished on any ordinary
laptop. This new business tool absolutely demands the desktop-like
performance and expansion capability of a Dolch PAC power portable. "By
enabling truly mobile video teleconferencing, Dolch has broken new ground
in this growing market with the TelePAC, opening up a world of new
applications for exchange of data, graphics, sound, and video at remote
sites," according to Volker Dolch, company President.
