UUCode Custom Control (.VBX) Version 1.0 is a ShareWare product of devSoft
Inc. Visual Basic and also C users can use it to enable their applications
of uuencoding/uudecoding.

The registration fee is US$ 30 and there are *no* royalties.

Features of version 1.0

  - UUEncoding and UUDecoding
  - Automatic filtering of messages
  - Intelligent decoding of concatenated messages
  - File or Memory (String) operation
  - Option for splitting large uuencoded files
  - Help support for registered users
  etc.

Why is UUCode needed?

Internet's EMail uses normally only 7bits for data transfers as it's
conceived for plain text. If you want to mail binary data, such as
programs or even text formated from a text-editor, say WP, or 8-bit text
(accented letters or other signs having an ASCII higher than 127) the
sender should first encode 8 bit data in 7 bits. The receiver does the
inverse process called decoding and restores the original file. UUEncoding
and UUDecoding are the standard in transfering binary data via EMail (UU
means Unix to Unix -- where it originately started...)
