DIGITAL EXTENDS PRESENCE IN $15 BILLION ASIA PACIFIC PERIPHERALS MARKET

Signs Five Distributors and Expands Agreements with Existing Partners

MAYNARD, Mass. -- March 28, 1995 -- Digital Equipment Corporation today
announced it has signed five new distributors and extended agreements with
two partners in the Asia Pacific market, substantially broadening its
presence in the region. These new agreements will provide distributors and
their customers with broader purchasing options and greater access to
Digital's latest products.

New partners include First Tech Pacific Distributors and Powerful Impact
(Malaysia); VST Computers (HK) Limited (China); Onflo Computer Company
Limited, and Toppan Moore Computer Systems Limited (Hong Kong). Extended
agreements have been signed with existing partners, Chartered Systems and
Networks of Singapore and SIS International of Hong Kong. Distributors
will now resell Digital's DEClaser 3500, DECwriter 500i and DECwriter 110i
printers; VT and Dorio terminals; the new VT LAN40 windowing network
terminal; and the Multia MultiClient Desktop device.

"By expanding the number of distribution partners in Asia Pacific,
end-users will have increased accessibility to Digital's products," said
Karl McLean, manager, Asia Pacific Sales, Components and Peripherals
Business Unit. "Digital's increased presence will allow Asia Pacific
distributors and their customers the advantage of a more comprehensive
product selection for their computing needs."

"With distribution currently in Australia, Hong Kong and Japan, the
addition of these new partners in China, Singapore, Korea and Malaysia
enables us to provide an even higher level of support to customers," said
Robin Dayne, Asia Pacific marketing and merchandising manager, Components
and Peripherals Business Unit.

The new Asia Pacific agreements are a part of Digital's overall
distribution strategy to provide Digital products to existing customers
and leverage market opportunities through relationships with distributors
rather than using a direct sales model. Digital, throughout 1995, will
continue to aggressively expand these distributor partnerships.

"We are excited to have signed this strategic partnership with Digital,"
said William Chung, executive director, Toppan Moore Computer Systems
Limited. "Adding Digital's technically superior products to our product
mix will enable us to provide customers with cost-effective, quality
solutions that reflect Digital's history of proven technology and
engineering expertise."
